Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus—he has inaugurated for us a new and living way through the curtain (that is, through his flesh)—and since we have a great high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful. And let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
The Christian life entails individual and corporate dimensions, both of which are essential.
The Christian life entails individual and corporate dimensions, both of which are essential.
· We have personal access to the Father and are personally accountable for our actions. (vs.19-21)
· We need one another to facilitate growth and engage in the fullness of ministry. (“let us”)
Through Interdependence on One Another, We are to BE the Church by:
· Being Upwardly Focused on Worshiping Our Creator. (v. 22)
o Individually, we have been purified in Christ and can approach the throne of God continually to commune with Him.
o Our daily worship of God is directed and enhanced by corporate praise.
· Being Inwardly Mindful that we must actively hold on to our faith. (v. 23)
o God is faithful in maintaining His promises, but we will always struggle to maintain our devotion to it (both individually and corporately).
o We must be intentionally striving to embrace our hope and be humbly receptive of the help of others.
· Being Outwardly Engaged in supporting and spurring on others. (vs. 24-25)
o The body must continually be together to build true community.
o Through community, we serve, build, encourage, and comfort one another through mutual investment and reception.
