5/26/2019 Peace, Love and the words of Jesus

You might bless these ties in these offerings both the gift and The Giver. But they never used to bring about the sharing of your love and the building of your kingdom in the shine of your light. In Jesus name we pray amen.

Are you are you okay, if we pray for you and Sarah? Can I do something a little out of order here? They can we pray you up didn't does that wet throw you off or anything if we do that before the scripture if you're okay. I did I blindsided him with it and it was always do the spirit thing. So I didn't realize I didn't blindsided. I didn't know it till I got up here and I looked at the scripture, if you're okay with it. We're going to pray for you and Sarah first if that's okay. We about to sprout spray this couple up. Heavenly Father were so excited as a church family for Robin Sarah today. They say they've, they've joined us and just become a part of us and we love them as if they've been with us forever. As long as each of us have been here. So glad we just ask that you continue to bless their relationship be with them today and let them have an amazing day rain or shine doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It'll be okay and we just so excited for both of them. Please be with them and their family not only today but throughout the coming weeks and let them have an amazing summer as they build their family and then continue to become entrenched in our community and then just everything rolls forward from here. We just love them so much and we're excited for them as a couple. We know how much they love you guys and we know how much they loved each other. So just continue to be with them and just let them have an amazing day and mazing summer and just an amazing life together as a family who asked to listen to you. I meant

Jesus answered him those who love me will keep my word and my father will love them and he will and we will come to them and make our home with them. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words and the word that you hear is not mine, but it's from the father who sent me I have said these things to you while I am still with you but the advocate the Holy Spirit whom the father will send in my name will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said to you peace I leave with you my peace I give to you I do not give to you as the world gives do not let your hearts be troubled and do not let them be afraid. You heard me say to you I'm going away. And I am coming to you. If you loved me, you would Rejoice that. I'm going to the father because the father is greater than I and now I've told you this before it occurs so that when it does occur, you may believe the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God. Thank you, sir.

This morning we are talkin about peace.

There's a lot of ways we try in the ways of this world to feel a sense of peace.

There's a rise in people applying for concealed and carry licenses. And people often do that is a desire to have a sense of peace and protection when they're out in the community.

somebody in California who owns 25 guns and and a hundred rounds of of ammo is a criminal is somebody in Nevada who has 50 guns and 2000 rounds of ammo is in Enthusiast someone in Arkansas if who has 1,000 guns and ammo 10000 rounds of ammo is a militant and and someone in Tennessee Who has 3000 guns and 50000 rounds of ammo? is Bubba who's a little light on ammo? We sent this we desired this sense of protection and security and some have done it through weapons others do it through food going up. There was a two older ladies that lives Three Doors Down and they paid me to mow their yard for $10 and to bring in their groceries for anywhere from 3 to $5 and in their house in their Pantry was Stacks and stacks and stacks of canned goods their whole inside kitchen was as if the apocalypse was coming tomorrow, and they would have had enough food to last a lifetime. Others of us have desire to source of peace and security through the building up of wealth.

Others have desired a source of peace and security through our bodies to be the healthiest that we can be as if that can bring a guarantee of peace. And some of you have stockpiled your medications. Just in case the price would ever go up as a sense of Peace as well. We desire. Peace. And then sometimes we can even seek out peace in Scripture. How many have you learned and memorize scripture as if that was the ultimate source of peace not so much in the ways of God's love but so you could be right in a good argument. So you could quote scripture to reinforce your own position.

Did the Peace of this world it is not able to connect to the peace that Christ offers us. We just sang that song in the eye of the storm. Add a friend in Panama City during this last hurricane her and her husband waited out the hurricane in their gym that they own. And she sent pictures from the eye of the storm. The eye of the storm date they knew they had 15 minutes to go outside before the other half of the hurricane hit. and they took pictures and just stood out in the center of the storm experiencing that all

That all that's like halfway between here and forever. It's not that you're through the storm. But you're in the midst of the storm of life.

Christ tells us in in the scripture about God's peace. Now in John first off at any English teachers in the room could could tell you John could not pass an English class with a hoot. His sentence structure is all over the place. Just like so many compound sentences together. And I want to offer you a little bit in a different translation here. It says Towards the end it says do not let your heart be troubled and do not let them be afraid. You have heard me say I am going away and I am coming to you. if you loved me, if you love me in Greek that word if can be translated as if it can also be translated as since. and when so where this translation puts a? I would like to be a little bit different and I would like to say since since you loved me you would Rejoice but I'm going to the father because the father is greater than I am. And now I have told you this before it occurs so that when it does occur you may believe me.

Earlier, it says peace I leave with you my peace. I give to you.

There is peace. There's peace in the words of Jesus.

I want to offer peace in these words of Jesus from Matthew chapter 11 verses 28 through 30. I'm going to paraphrase it.

Come to me all who are weary. All who are burdened down. And I will give you rest. My yoke is easy. And my burden is so light.

Come to me and I will give you rest.

In life we seek the peace of Christ, but the the piece that we see can't be brought about through the possessing of more things and it can't brought be brought about from protecting ourselves against others. It can only be brought about by loving God who created us to love one another. The piece in the Assurance we have of Christ. Is it you are loved and created by God? And you are cherished.

That is the peace that Christ offers us. And the peace that Godly leaves with us. May you seek ways this week to follow where the Holy Spirit leads you.

And may the Holy Spirit lead you to the Peace of Christ. Which surpasses all understanding?
