Our walk in Christ

Philippians 2:1–2 NIV
1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
Philippians 2
four Positions for a Believer
Philippians 2:1 NIV
1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
:!
the Word IF
really important little word
the context in the Greek is really SINCE
the context in the Greek is really SINCe
since we are united with Christ gives a definite statement of our position
everything flows from our relationship in and with Christ
United in Christ
there is no other place that we can be
only in Christ have we been unshackled from sin and death
only in Christ we have been completely set free
not to take on the traditions and forms of religious life
but to exult and prosper in the life that Jesus brings
be one in Christ and not in the human institution
In His Love
Christ’s love for his church, his people is the defining mark of Jesus
all has been done and is done through the expression of love in its various guises
we have been called by Christ
we have been called to love
a love through triumphs over hurt
a love that covers over sin and grievances
* Sharing in the Spirit
Sharing in the Spirit
the Spirit is our greatest gift after Christ’s sacrifice
not by power nor by might but by My Spirit is our battle cry
not by man’s endeavours but by God working in and through us
we must be conscious and deliberate in allowing the Spirit into our individual walk and in our corporate walk
Tenderness and Compassion
our connection to Christ has certain outcomes
tenderness is the softness of our human attitudes and endeavours
compassion back to the point when we needed compassion for our despair or brokenness
the message is clear = we are in Christ, let us live in Christ
being a Christian should be the most sacrificial thing we do
Complete Joy
Four Processes for a Believer
Philippians 2:2 NIV
2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
Philippians 2:1 NIV
1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
Like - Minded
Same Love
One in spirit
One in Mind
Complete joy comes from these four processes
Joy for church leadership because it shows a Christ centreness
Joy for the individual because you are fulfilling Christ’s purpose for you
There is personal holiness and sanctification
there is corporate fellowship and encouragement
There is the expression of love in action into the community
Let us strive for Complete Joy
