Sermon Tone Analysis

Intro

I wanted to pick tonight where we left off last time where we see the elites in the tribulation trying to hide from the wrath of God.

When you think about it, it really is foolish to attempt to hide from God.

From the very beginning Adam & Eve sinned and discovered they were naked and tried ti cover their nakedness, shame, with fig leafs.

And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

So Sunday we were looking at a very interesting section of Joshua.

The book of Joshua is a parallel to the book of Revelation and we saw an interesting parallel with the Kings that hid in the caves.

16 But these five kings had fled and hidden themselves in a cave at Makkedah.

17 And it was told Joshua, saying, “The five kings have been found hidden in the cave at Makkedah.”

Well alright let’ s get into and see what the Lord has for us.

Here we see a picture of life in the great tribulation.

For behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stock and the store: God's judgment on Judah, at this point, includes taking away their food (stock and the store) and water.

is a good example of the way two Hebrew words, each translated Lord may be used.

In this verse, the first time Lord is used, it translates the Hebrew word adonai, which means "master, owner, sovereign."

It is a broad word that can be applied to a human master as well as the Lord GOD, the ultimate Master.

The second time LORD is used, and is printed in small capitals, it translates the Hebrew word Yahweh, which is the sacred name of the Triune God.

So, it may be that the Hebrew Bible could use the phrase adonai Yahweh, which could be translated into English as Lord LORD, but actually means "Master Yahweh."

That phrase appears more than 300 times in the Old Testament.

Most of the time, the phrase is translated Lord GOD in the New King James Version.

When God touches our food and water we know that thing are serious.

In the GT one third of the fresh water supply will we fouled, not to mention one third of the trees and grass and one third of the oceans.

7 The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth.

And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.

9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

Third Trumpet: The Waters Struck

10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.

11 The name of the star is Wormwood.

A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.

Verse 2 - 3 every one they have depended on for leadership is gone.

What do we do without solid leaders.

Pray for your leaders!

Verses 4 - 5 sort of a picture of politics today.

Makes me think of the democrat party there are no leaders just children running to foolishness.

And not the result “the people will be oppressed”.

Verses 6 -7 - when things get tough no one wants to rule.

The qualifications have become you have clothing.

The person with anything at that time will run from ruling saying I have my own problems.

I cant help you!

Jerusalem and Judah have sinned in what they say and in what they do: their tongues and their doings are against the LORD.

In fact, what they say and what they do provoke the eyes of His glory.

It is much easier to think that what we do is offensive to God, than to think that what we say can provoke the eyes of His glory.

But we are commanded to glorify God by what we say just as much as by what we do.

Jesus said, For every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.

Verse 9 - The look on their countenance witnesses against them, and they declare their sin as Sodom; they do not hide it.

Woe to their soul!

For they have brought evil upon themselves.

When we see the Gay Pride parades and the Pro-abortion advocates we should shudder in fear.

They are proud of their sin.

I heard that even in Tel Aviv Israel their is a large homosexual population.

But notice: Woe to their soul!

For they have brought evil upon themselves.

Verses 10 - 12, God alway takes care of His own and whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap.

The effects of bad leaders cannot be overstated.

The LORD stands up to plead, and stands to judge the people.

The LORD will enter into judgment with the elders of His people and His princes: "For you have eaten up the vineyard; the plunder of the poor is in your houses.

What do you mean by crushing My people and grinding the faces of the poor?" says the Lord GOD of hosts.

To me I see a picture of the Venezuelan situation where the elite have destroyed the viability of the country.

Here God calls out judgement on the haughty women of Israel at that time.

Outstretched necks and wanton eyes - symbolic of their inner attitude of selfish pride and sensual minds and intentions.

When the outward becomes too important, more than the inward, beware.

In contrast, women of God are commanded: Do not let your adornment be merely outward; arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel; rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

How fast thing can and do change.

Therefore, cling to the eternal.

Isaiah now continues his thought in Chapter 4: 1.

And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, "We will eat our own food and wear our own apparel; only let us be called by your name, to take away our reproach."

There are no men or few men left so many have died.

Now Isaiah goes to the end of the GT with a vision of hope.

Verse 2 - 6

In that day the Branch of the LORD shall be beautiful and glorious; and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and appealing for those of Israel who have escaped.

And it shall come to pass that he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy; everyone who is recorded among the living in Jerusalem.

When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning, then the LORD will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and above her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night.

For over all the glory there will be a covering.

And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain.

In that day the Branch of the LORD shall be beautiful and glorious: the Branch of the LORD is a Messianic title, speaking of Jesus Christ.

This image is repeated in : There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.

It is repeated in : "Behold, the days are coming," says the LORD, "That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; a King shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth."

It is repeated in : In those days and at that time I will cause to grow up to David a Branch of righteousness; He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.

It is repeated in : For behold, I am bringing forth My Servant the BRANCH.

Shall be called holy: in the days of the sinful daughters of Zion, they were called beautiful, they were called delicate, they were called attractive, they were called fashionable, and they were called sexy.

But they were not called holy.

A cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night: when the Branch of the LORD reigns, there will be the tangible presence of the LORD.

Just as in the days of the Exodus, God will be as real as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night ().

And there will be a tabernacle for shade … a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm: when the Branch of the LORD reigns, there will be protection from the LORD.

The LORD's people will be safe and secure, washed, and in the abiding presence of the LORD.

Final thought: If we are really born again, we want to be washed, have the presence of the LORD, and enjoy His protection.

Many people only want the LORD's constant presence and protection.

But He doesn't grant those apart from His cleansing.
