The Burning Bush

We find that 40 years have passed since Moses ran from Egypt, and he is here taking care of his father-in-law Jethro’s flock

The Angel of the Lord

We see an angel of the LORD appearing

It’s important to note that whenever a King makes

Then the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire within a bush. As Moses looked, he saw that the bush was on fire but was not consumed.

Do not come closer,” he said. “Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” 6 Then he continued, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.

his appearance there is an for-bearer or herald that comes before the king.

So Moses thought, “I must go over and look at this remarkable sight. Why isn’t the bush burning up?”

Moses runs to the spot of the bush.

Moses

He does what any other human would do when they see something miraculous happening
we stop and look at the bird's beauty
we marvel at the flowers, the animals at the zoo
The oceans, moon, all of God's creations with the idea that this is amazing cause no human, it couldn’t do it itself, therefore God had to be responsible.
This is the excitement and ah that Moses is displaying

Holy Ground

Do not come closer,” he said. “Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” 6 Then he continued, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.

Removing your sandals is a symbol of respect. You’ve been outside, therefore don’t track foreign dirt in the clean place. (Holy place)
This also contributes to the upcoming command of cleaning yourself before coming into the tents but more so in and
By announcing to Moses that He is the God of Isaac, Abraham and Jacob it also signifies that God is not the God of the dead as noted by Jesus in . God is stating clearly that HE is the living God, the God that keeps the covenants, the God that has never failed.

14 God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.,u This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.” 15 God also said to Moses, “Say this to the Israelites: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is my name forever; this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.

God Doesn’t Agree With Tormenting His People

9 So because the Israelites’ cry for help has come to me, and I have also seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them

To oppress is the Hebrew word lhs (la.has)
This word expresses how the Egyptians treated the Israelites, they pushed them, tortured them, gave them minimal rations this was horrible treatment of mankind

So Moses thought, “I must go over and look at this remarkable sight. Why isn’t the bush burning up?”

Moses’ Lack of Faith

therefore, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh so that you may lead my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.”

11 But Moses asked God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

The reason for Moses lack of faith

Chapter 1 verse 6 states that Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died.
Chapter 3 God has to tell Moses who He is, the God of their fathers.
It had been centuries since there been a connection with the Israelites and God. (Enslaved for 400 years and the 430 years brings clarity to that number because of Joseph being there from a young age. )()
Since he didn’t know God, Moses had doubts about God’s abilities. And ultimately doubted his own.
If you don’t know God you don’t know who you are and who you’re supposed to be.
But Moses replied to the LORD, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent—either in the past or recently or since you have been speaking to your servant—because my mouth and my tongue are sluggish.”
Raised in Egypt and educated by them which was one of the powerful nations in the world at that time.
