What is Purity?
What does it mean to be pure?
A plain definition of purity means to be "free from anything of a different, inferior or contaminating kind."For the Christian, purity is keeping anything out of our life that is not of God.
When God made us, He made us in His image and gave us purpose.
Purity is to live a life within the purpose God designed us for.
It is freedom from anything that God did not plan for our life.
Purity is more than the absent of sex.
It involves your body yes but also your mind
The goal of purity is action—to love God, others and ourselves well.
Peter says that “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart” ().
1. Being Pure is a Relentless pursuit Toward God
The most important thing in Christian purity is a relentless pursuit for God.
It’s not only avoiding certain behaviors—though it includes that—but it’s a laser-like devotion to following Christ and His ways.
Purity focuses on seeking God first.
This is exactly why Jesus states “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
2. Purity comes from within
Let’s look at the Pharisees, the pharisees were people that dedicated there life to the faith.
