IRENAEUS WROTE:
THE GLORY OF GOD IS A HUMAN BEING FULLY ALIVE; AND TO BE ALIVE CONSISTS OF BEHOLDING GOD

EPHE
Goodness is righteousness in action. Goodness boldly does what’s right, and encourages others to do good as well.

Psalm 119:68 ESV
You are good and do good; teach me your statutes.
THE WORD GOODNESS MEANS:
WHAT IS EXCELLENT IN CHARACTER OR CONSTITUTION
MORALLY SOUND
goodness in greek
Goodness is agathosune, a Greek word unique to the NT. It does not occur in secular Greek writing. One aspect of this virtue is integrity. It is living and working with consistent, principle-centered behavior. It is being the same person in every situation, rather than being a hypocrite or a phony. It is the idea of “virtue in all circumstances.
aramaic word is TABH (TABUTE)
kindness in greek
The difference between agathosune (goodness) and chrestotes (kindness) is interesting. Agathosunewill correct and rebuke when necessary, whereas chrestotes simply seeks to help. Jesus showed agathosune when he cleansed the temple and drove out the money-changers; he showed chrestoteswhen he was kind to the sinning woman who anointed his feet.
WE DONT ALWAYS THINK THAT BEING GOOD IS ALSO SAY NO AND NOT PUTTING UP WITH COMPROMISE
It’s one thing to know what’s good and talk about what’s good, but it’s another to put it into effect.

2 Chronicles 30:5 ESV
So they decreed to make a proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, that the people should come and keep the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem, for they had not kept it as often as prescribed.
2 Chronicles 31:1 ESV
Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah and broke in pieces the pillars and cut down the Asherim and broke down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, and in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the people of Israel returned to their cities, every man to his possession.
2 Chronicles 31:20–21 ESV
Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and faithful before the Lord his God. And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.

The third way we display goodness is through graciousness

GOODNESS—in man is not a mere passive quality, but the deliberate preference of right to wrong, the firm and persistent resistance of all moral evil, and the choosing and following of all moral good.

GOD: He is good because He is morally perfect, gloriously generous and the standard of excellence and righteousness. Every attribute and every action of God is good and produces only good fruit.
This is goodness: understanding what is right and making it happen.
