What is a disciple?
Who is a disciple?
Why do we need to disciple other?
What is a disciple?
And am I a disciple of Jesus Christ?
Who is a disciple?
The word “disciple” means “student or an apprentice.”
When you here of the word “student” what comes to your mind?
When we hear the word student we think of maybe a school, a teacher, a principle, or a learner.
Jesus had students as well.
Jesus had a huge group of followers but poured into His main 12 disciples.
How did Jesus teach His disciples?
Christ taught through examples and parables.
Jesus lived as an example.
Jesus gave example through parables.
Therefore, we should live as an example of Christ.
3. What are some Qualifications to be disciple?
Follower
Believer
4. When in the Bible did Jesus ask someone to follow Him?
At the calling of His disciples .
And when Jesus told His Disciples to take up their cross.
At the calling of His disciples .
And when Jesus told His Disciples to take up their cross.
What did Jesus mean when He said to “follow me?”
Even as I ask such questions, I don’t assume to have all the answers, and I don’t claim to understand everything that following Jesus entails.
But in a day when the basics of becoming and being a Christian are so maligned by the culture and misunderstood in the church, I do know that there is more to Jesus than the routine religion we are tempted to settle for at every turn.
And I am convinced that when we take a serious look at what Jesus really meant when he said, “follow me,” we will discover that there is far more pleasure to be experienced in him, indescribably greater power to be realized with him, and a much higher purpose to be accomplished for him than anything else this world had to offer.
And as a result, we will all – every single Christian- eagerly, willingly, and gladly lose our lives to know and proclaim Christ, for this is simply what it means to follow him” (Platt.
5)
Therefore, to follow Jesus means “to lose our lives and proclaim Christ.”
To lose our lives means to completely dedicate our lives to Christ through our actions, language, and relationships.
Mainly, do all things to glorify Christ and live completely for Him.

“Is it possible for or me to profess to be a Christian and yet not know Christ?”
Yes, it is:
In conclusion, the qualifications of being a disciple is not to be just a professing Christian but a devoted believer and follower of Jesus Christ.
This why in chapter 7 of Matthew, Jesus gives a warning:
Next, a disciples must have a great love for God
This isn’t a command to hate our family
This is telling us to be a disciple we must love God before our family, our life, and everything else.
Lastly, a disciple must be conformed into the image of Christ and be Christ-like
In conclusions, A disciple is a believer in Christ, who is at the same time following Him by losing his life and being conformed into His likeness through intimating Him and carrying on His ministry.
