Sharing Good news - We share what really brings us enjoyment, what we find exciting.

Evangelism = sharing good news

Three Main Components of Effective, Healthy Evangelism

1) The Command

READ: ,
“As you are going” - continual
Wherever you are
Whatever you are doing
Whenever you are.....
But…I have a job, school, I’m retired, I sleep all day.... :)
(we’ll get to this)

We must be convinced that we can make a difference, and that we want to. Otherwise, we will not GO.

The church is not to sit still, and let people come to us. Otherwise, the passage would say, “Sit and wait, relax, plenty of time, I’ll send the people to you who you should hope want to be disciples.”
NO - Go, you do this, go make disciples. Tell them the good news you already know and love!

2) The Crew (think of a ship, or work detail)

Whose job is this?
READ:
Jesus told his disciples to do this, why us?
(Read the passage, and talk/explain through it)
“Beautiful” feet - context then, feet were dirty, ugly, disgusting, only mean for servants to clean) - this word is like “blooming”
Emphasizes the need to GO
Want beautiful feet? Share the Gospel.

Compelled

READ:
Can’t help it
Naturally comes out
Really, why us? Do I REALLY need to do this? Do I REALLY need to tell people, like really talk to them, and write to them, and.....YES. YES!
Why wouldn’t you? REASONS:
Afraid - fair, Jesus says He’s with you
Not sure what to say? - OK, Jesus says the Holy Spirit will guide you, and you have His word to use.
Write down passages to remember, and keep them in your wallet, Bible, etc.
The open the Word and SHOW someone that it’s not you, but God
Good to know some things NOT to say - and if you really want to learn, you will, because it will be important to you
Or....not truly saved? - Jesus even has a fix for that. (Romans road, 10:9-13, , etc.)
What if I just live the Godly lifestyle, so people SEE Christ in me?
Good start, and that’s important to build relationship.
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” ()

ILLUSTRATION: CBRS Baseball, or comments on kids

Speaking of relationships and efforts - check out Paul

3) The Crowd

READ: - Paul’s strategy:
Synagogues - to the “God-fearers”, Jewish unbelievers
People thinking their works, their good deeds, put them right with God
US, today: People all around us talk about God, they talk about every part except trusting Christ
QUESTION: How do you reach them? How did Paul do it?
Do you know enough of what people around here believe?
If not, OK, you can still teach them BIBLE truth
You can learn what they believe, not to pick them apart, but to better understand what they think about Heaven and Hell
IF it’s important enough....
POINT - If you really get it, and it’s really important to you, you can’t help but be excited about the opportunity.
The Marketplace - where people are, not isolated. He looked to make every conversation about Christ somehow.
Philosophers - Thinkers, writers, teachers of ways to think.
Probably hung out in trendy coffee shops :)
US, today: God deniers, laugh at you for trusting God
QUESTION: How do you reach them?
Connect, know, pray, patience
(Same questions as above, IF it’s important)
Do you really think we can make a difference?
Do you really think PRAYER makes a difference?
How you answer those is crucial!
POINT - If you really get it, and it’s really important to you, you can’t help but be excited about the opportunity.
AND - God will put you in front of people that YOU can reach
IF you are willing to GO
RESPONSE
Some: believed, some mocked, and some wanted to hear more
That’s real. Same for us. But, it starts with US (if not us, then who?)
PEOPLE KNOW WHAT’S MOST IMPORTANT TO US
If you met Paul, you heard about Christ
Do people hear about Christ, when they meet you?
Do people who already know you, hear about Christ?
<SONG: Mighty to Save>
CHALLENGE: We can’t call ourselves healthy if we are not willing to do this.
Proclaim it
Isaiah 40:9 NASB95
Get yourself up on a high mountain, O Zion, bearer of good news, Lift up your voice mightily, O Jerusalem, bearer of good news; Lift it up, do not fear. Say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!”
(Rob the context of the verse, make it local)
2. Pray for people, specifically - write their names down. I was prayed for, for 10 years!
3. GO - this church needs to GO
