15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Text; John 21:15-17
Brothers and Sisters in Christ; we ought to be sure of our love towards Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him,[ take care of my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. or shephered my sheep
Brothers and Sisters in Christ; we ought to be sure of our love towards Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
You do not have to study your conduct in order to infer from it your love to others.
You do not have to study your conduct in order to infer from it your love to your wife, your husband, or your parents, or your children, or your friends.
Love is not a matter of inference: which means a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning; it is a matter of consciousness and intuition.
Intuition is the ability to acquire knowledge without proof, evidence, or conscious reasoning ; Our conscience is understood to be the discerning faculty that exists within each individual. This faculty of discernment enables humans to distinguish between right and wrong and is the very basis of our reasoning.
And while self-examination is needful for us all for many reasons, a Christian ought to be as sure that he loves Jesus Christ as he is sure that he loves his dearest upon earth.
3 things to consider in this message:
1. Lovest thou me; More than fame ; lovest thou me more than your career?
1. Lovest thou me; More than fame ; lovest thou me more than your career?
In what did Peter do after jesus’ resurrection? Simon Peter told them, “I am going fishing.” “We will go with you,” they said.
3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
Fishing again? Returning back to the old business. There is always a great temptation to stay in our old life or return to it again.
Even the disciples experienced this setback. When Jesus called His first followers—Peter, James, and John; Fast-forward three years. Peter, James, and John have now experienced amazing things as disciples of Jesus. They have walked beside the Lord witnessing His mighty acts of healing, listened to his teaching, and even participated in miracles. And yet, even they returned to their old ways.
In our own walks with the Lord, very often some major disappointment or failing on our parts hinders or blocks us from truly stepping out into the fullness of the Resurrected Life. Is there any disappointment in your life that would have you fishing again rather than boldly living for the Lord? Is there any unworthy feeling holding you back, some guilt or shame, that would prevent you from truly walking in the newness of life that the Lord has for you?
We are not to live for the world to try to impress others or do better than others. Christians live for Christ putting Him first in everything we do living out His will for our lives.
Chasing popularity can also be a form of idolatry because you’re putting fame and what others think of you before God.
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Trying to be friends with worldly people. Her is what the bible says:
Proverbs 13:20
20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise:
But a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour:
But the way of the wicked seduceth them.
Proverbs 12:26
1 Blessed is the man
That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor standeth in the way of sinners,
Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord;
And in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psalm 1:1-2
33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
I’d Rather Have Jesus
I’d Rather Have Jesus
1 Corinthians 15:33
1 I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands.
I'd rather be led by His nail pierced hand
Chorus:
Than to be the king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin's dread sway.
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.
2 I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause;
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame.
I'd rather be true to His holy name [Chorus]
2. lovest thou me, more than wealth; quit serving God because of personal ambition.
2. lovest thou me, more than wealth; quit serving God because of personal ambition.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:9-12 But people who long to be rich soon begin to do all kinds of wrong things to get money, things that hurt them and make them evil-minded . For the love of money is the first step toward all kinds of sin. Some people have even turned away from God because of their love for it,

verse 9: First, although every person is tempted in some way, those who desire wealth "fall" to temptation. The urge to "get rich," or to seek material prosperity at all costs, leads to disaster. In contrast, believers are to resist temptation and live for Christ.
Second, those who desire to be rich fall "into a snare." The Greek word Paul uses here is pagida: an animal trap, usually set with a rope or net, used to capture an animal lured in by bait.
110 The wicked have laid a snare for me:
Yet I erred not from thy precepts.
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
2 Timothy 2:26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
These temptations "plunge people into ruin and destruction." Desiring wealth can both ruin a person's life and in some cases lead to a premature death. Greed can lead to the destruction of one's personal relationships,
Matthew 6:19-21
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
3. lovest thou me more than this world; Satan blinds the eyes of the unbelievers
3. lovest thou me more than this world; Satan blinds the eyes of the unbelievers
There are many causes for spiritual blindness such as Satan, pride, ignoring the Word of God.
What does the bible says about this?
1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
a.James 4:4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. meaning living according to worldly standard or wisdom. The wisdom of the world says that to be successful, we must do whatever it takes to get what we want out of life.

The meaning here is living according to worldly standards or wisdom. The wisdom of the world says that to be successful, we must do whatever it takes to get what we want out of life.
we are not to live according to the standard of the world:
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

c. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
d. Do you love me more than these: fame, wealth and world?
But the Master asks this question: Lovest thou me, more than these?
Lovest thou me, more than these? I love Thee more than this old world could offer
I love Thee more than this old world could offer
All sinful follies I deny for Thee , My love, my life, my all, I pledge Thee
I love thee Lord, I love thee Lord, more than these
Closing Prayer:
Closing Prayer:
Thank you for loving us Lord and you remind us of our commitment to follow you always and to love in serving you with all our lives. You are asking us of our commitment: do you love me; yes Lord we love you more than fame, wealth, and more than this world.
Forgive us of our sins and failures for not being good, obedient and faithful to you. We believe that your blood is more than enough to cleanse us from all our sins and unrighteousnes.
This I pray in Jesus name, amen.
