Exodus 24:1–7 KJV 1900
1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the Lord, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off. 2 And Moses alone shall come near the Lord: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him. 3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the Lord hath said will we do. 4 And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the Lord. 6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient.
Covenant: It’s one of those old English words that is not used much anymore but is still understood.

parties, ratified by swearing an oath.

verb [no object] agree by lease, deed, or other legal contract: the landlord covenants to repair the property.
Covenant has a special meaning in the bible.
More than a promise
We call marriage a covenant.
Aside from a bride and groom there are 3 important factors in a marriage:
Minister - marriage is a covenant between a couple and their God
Best Man
Witness
Best man’s job was to stand and confirm that these two were married and if divorce or infidelity entered the picture on any party the Best Man was to gather all the witnesses (that’s why you sign the guest registry) and you were to appear in court and establish that these two were married.
The penalties of breaking the covenant were already established in the law!
Today we say: I promise… I sware…
And we break those promises because we don’t understand the process of going into covenant.
Covenant is not just a statement of intent - its an agreement to consequence if you don’t follow through!
A sign of the time of the End are people will be promise breakers!
Romans 1:26–32 KJV 1900
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
This word covenant is important!
2 Corinthians 6:13–16 KJV 1900
13 Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged. 14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2 Corinthians 6:14–16 KJV 1900
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
The words fellowship, communion, concord, part and agreement
All deal with covenant!
We go into covenant with things that we plan, do repeatedly, habits
attitudes and spirits
How can you go into covenant with someone or something that is the antithesis of all you stand for?
How can you go into covenant with someone or something that is the antithesis of all you stand for?
Here is what going into covenant with an unbeliever looks like...
Here is the covenant - you are going to give me 10 wingnuts by 9 am tomorrow morning or you will have to eat black eyes peas every night for dinner…
For me there could be no stronger motivation!
For someone who likes black eyed peas it may be motivation to deliver the wingnuts by 9:30…
We have the child's story of Peter Rabbit… who when caught and was about to be punished begged not to be thrown into the briar patch - look at the thorns, the ugly, the pain…
So they did not realizing that he had been bred and born in the briar patch!
When you go in covenant with an unbeliever or an unbelievers situation
When you go in covenant with an unbeliever
This could be ppl or situation or places of habits we develop...
What you assume is a bad outcome is often the outcome the unbeliever desired all the time.
Intended of the enemy
What or who are you in covenant with?
How important is this covenant?
Your very life exists by covenant!
You are born and life will continue as long as you breath
BUT there is consequences to breaking the covenant with life!
You stop breathing and you die...
It’s a covenant between you, your body and the Giver of Life!
ourlives are a covenant - breath w life
When you go into covenant with something you give your life to it!
What are you in covenant with?
Do you allow it to trump your covenant with God?
