Right perspective
Right questions lead to the right teaching to give the right perspective.
Jesus has been teaching about greatness and the Kingdom of God (Mk9:33-35) what was required to enter the kingdom of God (Mk10:14-15); the way to enter the kingdom (Mk10:27).
But still there was the wrong perception but right questions, leading to the right teaching.
Do whatever we ask (Mk10:35)
Jesus response, it is not mine to do this (Mk10:40)
So, Jesus stopped and taught there about the cup of suffering, and the cup of blessing and the baptism of suffering and blessing, but still there was potential problem that needed to be addressed or it would cause division within the apostles.
Our passage today is a great reminder that we are to live contrary to the world and what it believes but to have God’s perspective and follow Jesus example.
So, in doing so, may we look at:
How we have been served by greatness
May we serve to be great
Greatness example for us to follow
How we have been served by greatness
We have some great examples in our lives, and maybe some not so great examples to of greatness.
When we open the scripture we find both too, but today our focus is a biblical examples of true greatness, how we have been served by it and what we are to do with it.
For us to get there, we need to see where we are in the scripture and go from there.
What do you see, what do you notice, what sticks out to you?
