Acts 1:4–8 NKJV
4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 1:4–5 NKJV

1) I wonder if the Church is to busy to have a real encounter with God?

A second question is, “ Has it been so long since we have seen God move that the move of God is not a priority for the People of God?
Does the modern day Church understand that we are responsible for sharing the gospel in our time?
Matthew 28:18–20 NKJV
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
we are called to make disciples of all nations.
The Great Commission
Pentecostals have a long traditions of “Shut ins”
shut ins were times of worship and prayer dedicated to the believer in Jesus getting closer to the Holy spirit.
why don’t we see them any more ? people don’t think it takes all that.
of course we don’t really know because we haven't tried.
The Great Commission

2. If we are Going to fulfill the great commission we are going to be dependent on the Holy Spirit.

The Great Commission
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Acts 1:6–8 NKJV
6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:6 NKJV
6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
even after all of this… they are still not seeing the point.
they are waiting to see an earthly kingdom.
Father God wants to use them to build His kingdom.
Acts 1:7 NKJV
7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.

3. God has given us the Holy Spirit so that we can be witnesses to Him.

Acts 1:7–8 NKJV
7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 NKJV
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
