The Lord Is On My Side
The Lord Is On My Side
5 I called upon the Lord in distress: The Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: What can man do unto me?
7 The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: Therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes.
10 All nations compassed me about: But in the name of the Lord will I destroy them.
11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
12 They compassed me about like bees; They are quenched as the fire of thorns: For in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: But the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and song, And is become my salvation.
:
A young man who had been raised as an atheist was training to be an Olympic diver. The only religious influence in his life came from his outspoken Christian friend. The young diver never really paid much attention to his friend's sermons, but he heard them often.
One night the diver went to the indoor pool at the college he attended. The lights were all off, but as the pool had big skylights and the moon was bright, there was plenty of light to practice by. The young man climbed up to the highest diving board and as he turned his back to the pool on the edge of the board and extended his arms out, he saw his shadow on the wall. The shadow of his body in the shape of a cross. Instead of diving, he knelt down and asked God to come into his life. As the young man stood, a maintenance man walked in and turned the lights on. The pool had been drained for repairs.

The Lord Saves Me
This portion was scripture was most likely written by King David. Bible scholars think this psalm was written around 1044 BC. It coincides with the same time when Nathan the Prophet came to David and prophesied that Solomon was going to build the temple. Solomon would be king and Israel would experience unprecedented peace.
25 And Judah and Israel lived in safety, from Dan even to Beersheba, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, all the days of Solomon.
Not only was there this unprecedented time of peace and supply of food, but also the bible says the silver and gold were as abundant as stone. King David is rejoicing at the news from the prophet. After all the rough experiences that he has enjoyed from King Saul trying to kill him and his own son trying to take the kingdom for him, he receives this great promise from God.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
psalms 118:
2. Who Do You Put Your Trust In?
Do you trust in what you can not see? Do you trust in other people? Do you trust in government?
1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Our world teaches us to only trust in what we can see and feel. Our eyes can deceive us. Our heart can deceive us. The carnal side of us is at war with the spiritual side of us. From the time we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, the enemy is constantly trying to pull us away from the Lord. We must constantly dwell on the Words of Life. We must sacrifice the carnal side of us and build up the spiritual side.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.”
John
Do you trust in other people?
Do you trust in other people?
People will let us down. One person, no matter how great they are should have our absolute trust. They should not be our number one priority. We are a family. We are an awesome family, but none of us are perfect. We may make mistakes. We want the glory of God to shine through everything we do. But we may make a mistake.
Do you trust in the government?
I may make a mistake. I may forget something which I already have many times. I try very hard to remove myself from the equation and search out the leading of the Holy Spirit. I want the power of God so strong in life and the life of this church that when people come up for prayer, that we would see those miracles instantly just like with the disciples. I believe we will see the miracles here. I believe we will see the salvation's. I believe we will see the re-dedications. I believe we will see the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This all comes about because we are developing our divine nature and becoming more in tune with the Holy Spirit. But as we see these wonderful and amazing things happen, they are not because of me or the elders or anybody else. It is because God Almighty is working through us and around us. He gives the FIRE. He gives the POWER. He gives the DELIVERANCE. Our communities desperately needs this.
Do you put your trust in the government?
Do you look to the government to protect you? Do you look to the government to save you? Jesus said in
21 They said, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
21 They said, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
Matthew
Paul told Timothy
1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
I Timothy 2:
We are to pray for those in authority over us, but not to put our faith in the government.
3. The Lord is my Strength, Song, and Salvation
The world tries to push us down and make us fall. How may times are they waiting for a Christian to fall and then it is all over the news? But the Lord has helped us he has picked us up.
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
12 They compassed me about like bees; They are quenched as the fire of thorns: For in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
Psalms 118:
I found this example that King David gave with the bees as being unique. We may feel like we are surrounded by the enemy like a swarm of bees. Japanese honeybees have a unique way of dealing with Japanese hornets.
Sometimes, hornets will attack honeybees to obtain the nectar. Instead of stinging the intruder, the honeybees swarm the hornet and begin vibrating, raising their collective temperature to 117 degrees Fahrenheit (47.2 ºC) and turning their crush of bodies into somewhat of a convection oven. While the honeybees can tolerate temperatures of 118 degrees Fahrenheit (47.8 ºC), Japanese giant hornets can only tolerate 115 degrees (46.1 ºC).

Sometimes, it can feel as if the world around us or a problem we are going through seems as if it trying crush us or burn us up But the Jesus Christ stepped in and He saved the day. He saves everyday. He went to the cross to defeat the law of sin and death. To give us a sound mind. To send us the Holy Spirit to fill us with power and fire and teach us. He gives us not just life, but life abundantly. He steps into the fiery furnace and rescues us. He makes a way where there seems to be no way. He sends His angels to protect us.
He gives us a new song to sing. A song of redemption. A new song of life and joy. There was a song we used to sing. I will not sing for you and everyone in the house says “Praise God”
“The Joy Of The Lord Is My Strength” We used to sing this in Children’s Church. They would really have fun with the song. It would be boys against girls to see who could sing the loudest. It was a song that has stuck with me. We all want the joy of the Lord. Jesus wants us to have His joy fulfilled in us.
Sometimes we struggle and need our faith renewed. We need that new song. A song that breaks through the darkness and raises us up on the wings of an eagle. We need to focus on the name that at which every knee will bow and every tongue will confess.
Jesus, name above all names
Beautiful Savior, glorious Lord.
Emmanuel, God is with us.
Blessed Redeemer, Living word.
