In His Presence
The Set Up - old testament about coming into God’s presence
we are going to look at the setup, the process, to get into gods presence and how that happened then, we are going to look at the symbolism and types, all that means is how they point to jesus, and how that can help us believe better
why help us believe better and deeper and more,
When you believe right, you do right.
the set up will be the tabernacle into the ark of the covenant
genesis overview
creation - adam and eve
noah and the ark
Abraham and sarah and the promise , isaac, jacob and esau, joseph and into egypt
exodus, israelites becoming slaves to the egyptians, the exodus and freedom
isaac
the giving of the law
find israelites in the desert and god is giving them the set up and the breakdown, the process of how to worship and enter into the presence of God
why is this necessary? Sin. Sin separates us from God and so then what is the way to get back and be able to be in the presence of God?
20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
cause, Eden, they lived in the presence of god, purpose, design, intent, enemy came and stole this life away and the life that was designed was gone. so then is their a way back?
Thus the tabernacle and its items and how they all foreshadow Jesus
1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me.
o
8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. 9 Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.
Young’s Literal Translation Chapter 25
‘And they have made for Me a sanctuary, and I have tabernacled in their midst; 9according to all that which I am shewing thee, the pattern
8 ‘And they have made for Me a sanctuary, and I have tabernacled in their midst; 9 according to all that which I am shewing thee, the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all its vessels, even so ye do make it.
God is showing them what to build from the inside out. starts with the inner of the inner courts on the peice that is going to be the very presence of God and then works his way out int o the different areas.
God wants to work on us the same way. From the inside out. the most central part of who you are. bring healing, courage, wisdom, joy, peace, ?, from the inside out.. He wants you to know that you have his heart . And if you have his heart, what are the possibilities. Not in a selfish i can get what ever i want way. Im talking about understanding that every sin is forgiven, every fear wiped away, every sickness healed, every need provided for, love thats everlasting, peace thats overwhelming, joy thats uncontainable, courage to face the biggest giant you can think of, favor before you and behind and on the left and the right.. You have his heart. He, the God of the universe totally and completely is in love with you.
god can and does move from the outside in
From the inside out. our landing spot is going to be the ark, and the ark through out scripture, but before we go there we are going to go from the inside out to the outside in, big picture.
in exodus the children of Israel are camping around the desert and God gives them instruction on how to set up camp
Scripture informs us that the earthly patterns given by God are often a shadow of a greater heavenly reality
17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
12 tribes
5 They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.”
1 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near.
12 tribes
ESV17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
like the shadow that is one’s double
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
12 tribes
24 So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.
2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

in view of what we just talked about
12 tribes, one broken into 2 so its like theres 13 and God asks them to set up camp this way
found in numbers 2
The tabernacle of meeting was in the center.
The camp of Judah, consisting of the tribes of Judah (74,800), Issachar (84,400), and Zebulun (57,400), a total of 186,400 men, camped to the east
The camp of Reuben, consisting of the tribes of Reuben (46,500), Simeon (59,300), and Gad (45,650), a total of 151,450 men, camped to the south
The camp of Ephraim, consisting of the tribes of Ephraim (40,500), Manasseh (32,200), and Benjamin (35,400), a total of 108,100 men, camped to the west
The camp of Dan, consisting of the tribes of Dan (62,700), Asher (41,500), and Naphtali (53,400), a total of 157,600 men, camped to the north
Each group was to “camp by his own standard, beside the emblems of his father’s house”
The tribe of Levi was unnumbered and camped around all sides of the tabernacle
The picture is not perfect. But the pattern is recognizable. even the camp set up is image of what is to come.
now the outside fence, they call the courtyard area
9 “Make a Courtyard for The Dwelling. The south side is to be 150 feet long. The hangings for the Courtyard are to be woven from fine twisted linen, 10 with their twenty posts, twenty bronze bases, and fastening hooks and bands of silver. 11 The north side is to be exactly the same.
12 “For the west end of the Courtyard you will need seventy-five feet of hangings with their ten posts and bases. 13 Across the seventy-five feet at the front, or east end, 14 you will need twenty-two and a half feet of hangings, with their three posts and bases on one side 15 and the same for the other side. 16 At the door of the Courtyard make a screen thirty feet long woven from blue, purple, and scarlet stuff, with fine twisted linen, embroidered by a craftsman, and hung on its four posts and bases. 17 All the posts around the Courtyard are to be banded with silver, with hooks of silver and bases of bronze. 18 The Courtyard is to be 150 feet long and seventy-five feet wide.
