Have you ever known someone who is a really good talker?
You know they seem to not only have a gift for gab, but you could literally find them talking to anyone, complete strangers if they could get an audience with them...
Ok,
Yes, there are people who are better than that and others who are just more quiet, especially around people they do not know...
I was talking to a young couple the other day and I told them, I never thought he would ever quit talking growing up, and his new wife said, some things never change… lol Apparently he is still quite the talker...
So many of us are naturally talkers.
That is, we think we have something to say, and we usually get our words into a conversation.

Let me share with you all and with it the first 5 verses..

Now I don’t know about you, but I love the Psalms and the Psalmist...
Davids words are so practical and speak to so much of our life experience.
It speaks to our hearts...
Now words are important, we use them all the time, and some people use them better and more frequently than others.
Now some people struggle with listening.
I never will forget a husband telling me once, he listened to people all day and when he got home the last thing he wanted to hear with his wife talk about her day.
I told him, you really don’t want to be married do you.... His response was, why would you saw that?
Because a marriage is about communication, about talking and listening.
If you fail to do both and you will find yourself doing neither.
Communication is important, in the physical life and the spiritual.
So we could agree that communication is wildly important, especially in our life in front of God.
Sometimes, though, many of us who like to talk also struggle with just listening.
Our mouths move so often that we fail to use our ears very well.
Many of us are naturally talkers.
That is, we think we have something to say, and we usually get our words into a conversation.
Those words aren’t always bad, and communication really is important in our relationships—including our relationship with God.
Sometimes, though, many of us who like to talk also struggle with just listening.

This is the other form of drive by praying that we talked about a couple weeks ago.
In our practical discipleship this week, I’m challenged personally to quietly read the Word – and just listen to it.

I do think it’s important to read the Word and respond to God in prayer as we read it, but even then we sometimes read a little and talk a lot.
Instead, today I want us to hear the Word, listen to it, meditate on it, digest it, and love it—all without our adding our voice to the conversation.
For example, take some time today to slowly, patiently, and deeply read this section of :

I waited patiently for the Lord, and he turned to me and heard my cry for help.
He brought me up from a desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear, and they will trust in the Lord.
How happy is anyone who has put his trust in the Lord and has not turned to the proud or to those who run after lies!
Lord my God, you have done many things—your wondrous works and your plans for us; none can compare with you.
If I were to report and speak of them,they are more than can be told.

David says right off the bat, I waited patiently for the Lord....
The phrase “waited patiently” speaks to the nature of the worshippers heart, He was looking forward to the arrival of the Lord’s presence.
There is no doubt in his mind that He will see and or hear God.
And in the second part of the verse, we see the answer.
God inclined...
Ps 17”
God, inclined…
God, inclined… he bent down to hear, actually like you are turning your ear toward someone or some thing to hear better.
and it is personal, God bent down to me, to hear me and He did.
He heard my cry...
Man, if God takes the time to hear us do we value the time of stopping to hear him.
Verse 2 speaks to the nature of the deliverance…He remembered those who were suffering, as such, Jeremiah is one who suffered, being lowered into a cistern.
Just as Jeremiah was delivered, so the Psalmist speaks of being delivered He is lifted out.
Why did all of this happen?
He prayed and the Lord heard....
And set his feet on the Solid rock, Listen to Psalm 27:5
And then looking at verse 3..
And from that deliverance, comes praise… he put a new song…it was a fresh song adapted for the occasion.

There is a time to pray, and a time of lift up our voice and praise the Lord, to give him praise from our deliverance…
Now look at verses 4-5
The word, Blessed more than happiness, fortunate and happy for his divine grace as well.
But all of this is because of this trust in the Lord.
My friends, you can only trust the Lord as you have followed, prayed and now have heard and seen His hand of deliverance.
He does not turn aside, the person follows the truth and not the lies of others.
A follower of the Lord staying with the Lord, never delaying and never wandering away… They follow and love the Lord.
Now verse 5
it tells us of his answers… he will proclaim the Lord to others, He will tell all of the things he does, even though it is might appear to be to many to share, he will tell it all
Now if the Lord is this gracious and good to us… we must take the time to not only pray, but to hear and see what the Lord is doing.

Read it, thank the Lord and listen to what He is saying to you..

Again, just read the Word.
Hear it.
