Arrested
Arrested
tells us how the apostles ended up in jail because of jealousy of the high priest and Sadducees.
The apostles had been preaching , teaching and healing the sick all around Jerusalem.
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.
How many of you have ever been arrested? Let me rephrase that, How many of you have been arrested wrongfully?
You may not be in a physical jail just yet but where you are is much worse because you are separated from the One who created you.
As sinners, there is an arrest warrant for each of us and the punishment for our sins will be hell
Too many people are stuck in prison today for many reasons including some not of their own fault, but a majority are in prison because of their own choices.
How many of you have ever been arrested? Let me rephrase that, How many of you have been arrested wrongfully?
You may not be in a physical jail just yet but where you are is much worse because you are separated from the One who created you.
As sinners, there is an arrest warrant for each of us and the punishment for our sins will be hell, BUT God has provided a way to be set free.

explains how the apostles got out of the prison and the instructions that were given to them by the angel of the Lord.
The total helplessness of the Jewish leaders is highlighted through this divine escape and brings an illustration to what Gamaliel would teach after the apostles were set free from prison.
but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice,
Just like the Jewish leaders were helpless so is Satan when we repent of our sin, believe in the gospel and follow Jesus.

The door from your jail cell has been opened and you no longer have to face the punishment of hell because you have been set free by the completed work of Jesus on the cross.
However, for that work not to be done in vain you must choose to follow through by following Jesus daily.
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?
Luke 9:23-
Follow Through
Follow Through
Remember the apostles were thrown into prison because they were preaching Jesus and the powers to be could not stand it. They had Jesus crucified and thought that would be the end of it. They did not count on His disciples to continue with the proclamation of the gospel message Jesus had given.
The angel of the Lord had set them free and told them to go stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life.
Life. In biblical perspective, life flows from the living Father through the Son (his agent in creation and redemption) into a world thirsting for “real” life (see Jn 6:57).
As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me.
John
This is the area where we as Christians fail. Most will see the open door and accept what Jesus has done for them but they fail to follow Jesus daily.
Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate. - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
The gospel has been water down so much that people just ask for forgiveness without obedience. Without obedience there is no forgiveness, no discipleship and no gospel. You must Follow through and Obey God.

Obey God
Obey God
Peter and the apostles spoke boldly before the high priest and the council.
But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
Acts
The second appearance before the Sanhedrin saw all the apostles together instead of just Peter and John in the first appearance. Now they were being charged with two counts. 1) Disobeying the order not to preach in this name any longer. 2) Trying to lay guilt on the Jewish leaders for the blood of this man. (Notice that the high priest never said the name Jesus) He will one day!

The high priest said many things during this trial but he never mentioned the escape of the apostles from prison. It is amazing what people talk about rather than the truth.
Listen to Peter and the apostles response to the high priest.
Peter and the apostles went through the doors that was opened for them and they gladly followed through and obeyed God. They counted it joy to be beaten for the name of Jesus.
Afterwards they continued to walk through the open doors daily proclaiming Jesus as Christ.
And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.
It is one thing to say you trust God and that you believe in Jesus but it is totally different when you put action behind your words.

What Doors are Opened for You?
Are you will to go through them since Christ has set you free?
Will you follow through and obey God rather than man?
