1 Entice: We humans are kind of complex. We think, feel, react, and choose. Not all thoughts, feelings, actions, or choices are equal. You are here this week to learn the difference. What you believe makes a difference. Belonging to Christ means you think some things, feel some things, do some things, and choose some things—>Because He wants them.

2 Engage: It can be just a tiny little bit hard to understand. Some adults like to make it really hard to understand because that means they can make excuses rather than decisions. Let me clarify it a little:
Let me clarify it a little:
2.1 Verb=action word. (Mental or physical) Noun=Person, place, or thing.
2.2 So, in greek the verb is πιστεύω the noun is πίστις. When you πιστεύω you have πίστις .
2.3 In english:
Believing is what you do…faith is what you have,
because we don't use the word faithing-though that's what the bible is really saying.
3 Expand: When you read your Bible the plan of salvation is really kind of easy to understand: Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized, live a Christian life. That's our subject this week. Tonight we are talking about faithing, believing. Because if you don't get it-if you don't believe- you're not ready to go forward.

4 Excite: I've been a Christian since I was about your age. Some of my first Christian moments were right here. I know for a fact you can learn about saving faith right here. (biggesture encompassing campground) But you have to have saving faith right here. (point to heart).

Explore: Saving Faith is what you do because of what Jesus did. (assent & content).
Explain: Like I said, I want to keep it simple, so let's just talk for a little while about the facts.
1 Faith is a response.
▾ 1 Faith is a response.
1.1 The Righteous live by faith.
=Righteous live by faith.
• 1.2 =responding to the word of God.
Habakkuk 2:4 ESV
4 “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith.
• 1.2 =responding to the word of God.
1.2 The righteous respond in faith
Romans 10:17 ESV
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
to the word of God.
Romans 10:17 ESV
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Because of What Jesus Has done for us!
2 Faith is an assurance.
2.1 ..of the promise of eternal life
John 3:16 ESV
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 ESV
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
2.2 of a conviction about God
Hebrews 11:1–3 ESV
1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 For by it the people of old received their commendation. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
Hebrews 11:1–6 ESV
1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 For by it the people of old received their commendation. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. 5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

3.3 Our Story
Jude 3 ESV
3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
Shut Down:
• You guys go to school and you learn mathematics. Numbers are representations of real things. There is no "4" it represents 4 things. No one bats an eye at thinking like that because at some point in your life you are going to have a pile, stack, or bottle of things and you will need to count them.
because at some point in your life you are going to have a pile, stack, or bottle of things and you will need to count them.
You can get this. Believing…or faith-ing is the beginning of a beautiful journey, and wonderful relationship, a life-changing story. Jesus is the author and the major character. He wants you to join Him.
wants you to join Him.
