Who Is Jesus To You

sometimes I don’t feel like I am doing justice to this important subject. I can’t think of one thing I want for all of us more than every single one of us to be in love Jesus. To have all of our souls hearts and mind wrapped up and tied up and tangled up in Jesus. Jesus should be our everything or all. not a moment of our day should pass where jesus is not on our minds. from th emoment week wake up to moment we fall asleep and yes even in our dreams Jesus should dominate our thoughts. Maybe the reason we are not as commited to the church and the work of Jesus is because we are not in love with jesus. Maybe the reason we feel so lost and helpless, troubled, frustrated, angry at the world is becaquse we are not in love with Jesus. May the reason we grumble and complain and cause problems is because we are not in love with Jesus. One book of the Bible that has helped me beyond all others to see Jesus is the book of John
Helps me see Jesus!
John 1:14 NASB95
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
We need to see his glory and we can’t do that unless we are digging deeply into God’s Word! We can’t tdo that unless we are constantly taking Him in to our hearts and to our minds and to our souls.
the book of John helps us see who Jesus is and it helps us appreciate Jesus, and fall in love with Jesus. Helps us understand why we need Jesus it helps us understand that we can’t live without Jesus
It helps me see who Jesus is and it helps me appreciate Jesus, and fall in love with Jesus. Helps us understand why we need Jesus it helps us understand that we can’t live without Jesus
I am the bread of Life 6:35 (I am the bread that came down out of heaven v. 41, I am the bread of Life v.48, I am the living bread that came down out of heaven v. 51)
I am the light of the world 8:12; 9:5
I am 8:58
I am the door to the sheep 10:7,9
I am the good shepherd 10:11,14
I am the Son of God 10:36
I am the resurrection and life 11:25
I am the way and the truth and the life 14:6
I am the true vine 15:1, 5
John
John 20:30–31 NASB95
Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
Matthew 25:35 NASB95
‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;
we learn that Jesus is the bread of life. We find the people following Jesu were hungry
We are hungry. The world is hungry physically and more importantly spiritually.
people are starving for God for Jesus and the bread of life is that which feeds our souls. Jesus says I am the bread of life v. 48. He is the sustenance that we all need. Jesus and Him alone will fill our spiritual stomachs
passover was near and they were listening to him teach and they were hungry and Jesus tested his disciples by asking “Where are we to buy bread, so that these may eat?” Philip noted that they had 200 denarii but he knew it wasn’t enough to feed 5,000 people.
Andrew said their is a lad who has 5 barley loaves and 2 fish
Jesus said have them sit down for ther was a lot of grass and jesus gave thanks and they began to pass food out. the people were filled and satisfied and there were 12 baskets of left overs.
John 6:14 NASB95
Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
what prophet?
Deuteronomy 18:15 NASB95
“The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him.
How did God feed the Israelites in the desert? He brought manna down from heaven. Jesus feeds them with bread from heaven and they tried to come take him by force and make him king.
they were full, satisfied
John 6:26 NASB95
Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.
So many are hungry and longing for crumbs spiritually. These people were starving spiritually and didn’t even know it!
When we need real food to live
we need food to live
but we must work for it
1 Thessalonians 3:10 NASB95
as we night and day keep praying most earnestly that we may see your face, and may complete what is lacking in your faith?
2 Thessalonians 3:10 NASB95
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
WE NEED TO WORK FOR SPIRITUAL FOOD
we need to work for it but Jesus says we need to work for spiritual food
these people searched all over for Jesus all over the country side sailed over in a boat and they finally find him
John 6:27 NASB95
“Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.”
work for that spiritual food. work if it is important for you. put forth energy, labor, strive. toil, put forth great effort. work to find jesus and take him into your life. Having a relationship with jesus doesn’t just happen. Just like a marriage relationship takes work energy sacrifice, effort.
John 6:35 NASB95
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.
Jesus Himself is the only one that satisfies the soul Jesus is the only one that fills that empty part of our soul
How do we eat jesus how to have our soul filled by Jesus.
v. 35 tells us part of it
keeps coming to him - every single day, every single moment of every day. if you don’t come to Jesus everyday you will not be filled and you will find yourself wanting.
Most of the time when we think about coming to Jesus we think about our initial coming to jesus Hear the gospel respond to the gospel turn our hearts from sin to God and we confess Christ as our lord and we are washed in the blood of Jesus fro the forgiveness of sins and we submit to Jesus
but in this passage he is talking about continue to come and eat. How many of you eat once and that's it? Obviously not. you eat all the time. He who keeps on coming to me how do you come to him.
in his word, on purpose and you come to worship and in prayer repeatedly, you depend on him, reach out to him. you have discussion about him with other people, you seek him out you search for him in His word constantly
Keep Believing (keep trusting)
John 20:
John 20:30–31 NASB95
Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
have you believed on the Lord Jesus Christ? a lot us think that is a step that we did along time ago but you have to keep on trusting in Jesus its something you choose everyday
i choose to keep trusting his grace and his redemptive work and his commands and his promises I keep trusting him about his return and judgment
John 12:48 NASB95
“He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.
John 12:28 NASB95
“Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came out of heaven: “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”
every-tim\ I keep making those choices I am taking Jesus in
John 6:40 NASB95
“For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
John
Keeps Beholding the Son . How?
looking with our mind and our heart and understanding of who jesus is
John 3:14 NASB95
“As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
looked at him focused on it
fix our eyes on Jesus. how distracted are you. whats keeping you from focusing on Jesus. when I am talking about focusing on Him, I am talking about daily conversation end of the day reflection on Him morning meditations on Him. studying and focusing on his word like...
behold the lamb of God innocence, purity, and his sacrifice for our sins
the great physician - only Jesus can make us well and heal the sin sick soul
light of the world and we are all blinded by sin and the only one that can open our minds is Jesus
John 1:14 NASB95
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
keep thinking keep considering keep beholding and when we do so we are taking in Jesus
this is a hard passage to preach and hard passage to understand sometimes - spiritual concept somehow we need Jesus himself a relationship with him and we need to take Jesus in on a regular basis
John 6:52ff NASB95
Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. “For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. “As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. “This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.” These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum. Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this said, “This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?” But Jesus, conscious that His disciples grumbled at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble? What then if you see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before? “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. “But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him. And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.” As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore. So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you?” Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. “We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.” Jesus answered them, “Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil?” Now He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray Him.
How to we take him into the four front of our thought s our consciousness mentally and spiritually process him how do we digest him
we continually come to Jesus
we continually Trust Jesus
we continually behold Jesus
who is Jesus to you, He is my bread. without Jesus I am starving
John 6:63 NASB95
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
John 6:63
we are hungry souls. jesus himself and a relationship with jesus himself is what sustains us. work put forth effort give thought to taking this spiritual food so that you can be eternally satisfied
Jesus is the bread of life and I cannot live with out him. Do yo need the bread of life? Then why don’t you come to Him today as we stand and sing.
