I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
COMMUNION
COMMUNION
Receiving the Lord’s Supper, first and foremost is a remembrance of Jesus’ shed blood for our salvation and healing. It is also a reminder that He will return when its time — for His people
Another important thing to remember about the Lord’s Supper is that it is a family activity — it is something that we celebrate together as the community of Christ — the family of God. Jesus’ work on the Cross is the glue that binds us together.
Prepare your hearts to receive by repenting of sins and asking for His grace — which He gives freely.
Now, let us partake, as individuals before God and as a family before God.
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Introduction
Epicenter (origin): late 19th century: from Greek epikentros ‘situated on a center’, from epi ‘upon’ + kentron ‘center’

Epicenter: the point on the earth's surface vertically above the focus of an earthquake.
Earthquakes can be extremely powerful and destructive. If the epicenter is off-shore, there is the possibility of a tsunami (tidal wave). We know how destructive these can be. If the epicenter is inland…you don’t want to be near it.

Epicenter: the central point of something, typically a difficult or unpleasant situation.
Here’s what I want to point out today. God’s people…the church, can expect to face difficult and overwhelming challenges. Sometimes you may feel like you are at the epicenter of an earthquake
Just because something is difficult or unpleasant doesn’t make it a bad thing - this is where we have the opportunity to put our trust in God and watch what He does.
My desire, as scary as it might be at times, is to be at the epicenter of God’s plan and purpose for my life. I can’t think of a better way to get right in the center of God’s presence than through prayer.
You and I have been set apart for the epicenter of God’s Kingdom — the war room…the prayer room…a life of prayer and exercising our faith.

Praying is more than good thoughts and wishes — it is an action-packed endeavor

Praying means we are talking to God -- and listening to God — it’s a conversation

Praying is more than good thoughts and wishes — it is an action-packed endeavor
When Jesus prayed, He often went away to solitary places to speak to the Father — it was an intentional action
When Jesus prayed, it was according to God’s word — requires the act of reading and meditating on God’s Word
Praying means talking to God -- and listening to Him — it’s a conversation
Praying is inseparable from faith — when we pray, we put our faith into action
We have all been given a measure of faith — does yours need primed? Prayer and God’s Word is what primes the pump
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Praying is hard work sometimes — that’s why the Holy Spirit helps us

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
Prayer takes you to the very epicenter of how God works and moves among His people. It is such a powerful weapon against the enemy that He throws everything He has at us to distract us from actually praying. We may think about praying (good thoughts and wishes), but prayer is not done accidentally. We choose to pray
Today we are going to take some time to pray. First, let’s take a few minutes to life up our President

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
