Essential to Servitude

When we are serving the Lord and ministering to those he has called us to it will be met with its physical and spiritual exhaustion.
WE are slaves unto The Master and we should be about his business. That is servitude at heart. The state of being a slave or completely subject to someone more powerful.
To often when we find ourselves in this state we neglect that which we need the most. We supplement the greater for the lesser.
We are prone to do this. How often do we consider our sunday’s a burden to rise and go to church for it is the only day that we are able to sleep in?
Neglecting the greater for the lesser.
Sleep in on your day of work.. I cannot do that for that would get me fired.
Yet we forget to recognize the compromise that will come into our lives when we neglect the God ordained practice of public worship and what the outcome is in our life when we neglect it.
Not an action that will lead us to a more fruitful life in Christ but rather contrary.
We had seen last week the authority of Christ teaching that was accompanied by his authoritative deeds. Casting out demons. That which opposed his mission still fell subject to his authority.
So as we will see deeper in weeks to come the authority of Christ’s teaching fleshed out we see the authority of Christs deeds that we would do good to follow.
Now we come to The next portion in Mark.
REAd Mark 1:29-39.
Christ stands in the synagogue and reads from the prophet
Luke
Luke 4:18–19 NKJV
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
This is a prophecy given in Isaiah about the coming Messiah.
The spirit of the Lord is upon me… This is my beloved son in whom i am well pleased.
His words were authoritative and accompanied by power.
When John the Baptist was sitting in prison and he sent word from Jesus to see if He truly was the one we were waiting for
Luke
Luke 7:22–23 NKJV
Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
This we see fleshing out in .
What was the example that our master had given us? For He is the author and perfecter of our faith.
What was the example our master had given us?
We learn from his Life.
Emannuel “God with us”
HE thought it necessary to pray.
A good soldier about the masters business understands the importance of communication with the commander.
This is not just born out of need but also desire.
Any time we are faithful to the work which God calls us to
A follower of Christ
A Father to his household
A Mother to her children/a
A Pastor to his church
A teacher to her students
A work unto a worker
a ministry unto a worker
An ambassador unto the world
All these will be at some point accompanied by mental and physical exhaustion. Continually pressed by the needs of others and the great task of ministering unto them.
But how did Christ lead by example for this exhaustion?
Was it by sleeping in, locking the doors and not allowing anyone to come in?
Rather it was by rising even earlier to commune with the one that He desires to please and honor above all else. His greatest treasure was not the day in which he can sleep in, but rather when he can get away to be with his father. proven by his practice.
Rest is not a terrible thing but if we are not careful for to many of us it has become a God.
For it is often upon this altar that we sacrifice our time with God.
Thjis is a desire that overrides fleshly desires for he arose a long while before it was day light.
This is believe brings out two truths:
Christ had a great desire to commune with his father.
Proven by his practice
We have a lack of desire to commune with the father.
Proven by our neglegence
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul.
The Lord is my shepherd i shall not want. I do not desire beyond what he has provided but i long also to be in his presence and close to Him.
Christ understood the importance of solitary prayer in the busy-ness of life.
We have a lack of understanding the importance of solitary prayer.
Not for Gods sake but for ours.
God doesn’t grow weary, doesn’t forget, not easily distracted, or nor tempted to Sin.
BUT WE DO.
There is great importance behind prayer that we stand in need of.
It places us in the constant reminder that apart from the father we can do nothing.
I am the Vine and you are the branches.
This also helps us to be faithful to the business that he has sent us on.
Christ didn’t need to be reminded of his purpose but we stand in need of constant reminders because we get distracted.
With things that are so pointless. We get discouraged by things that are so minute.
How many times does our week become filled with things that ultimately were not worth the space in which they occupied in our time, nor the worry the occured.
We grow weary and need to be reminded of the one who strengthens us.
We grow discouraged and need to be reminded who fights for us.
We grow doubtful and need to be reminded the King who sits upon the throne.
We grow worrisome and need to be reminded of the Sovereign provider.
WE grow complacent And need to be reminded of the cost of the one who saved us.
We are forgetful and forget the mission of which Christ sent us.
Do you have a desire not just born out need but also want to to commune with our heavenly father?
For this purpose i have come forth.
He was about the business of which he was sent.
The time is fulfilled-the Messiah is here and not aimlessly living but with purpose.
The divine placement by God in History at just the perfect time.
He was a servant about the masters business.
Living on Mission. He knew who he was and his purpose for which he came and doesn’t miss a beat.
Do you understand the divine placement of your life? This is not an attempt to puff you up but rather a call to wake up and live for the Lord.
Acts 17:26 NKJV
And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,
Acts 17:236
So that they should seek the Lord.
America coming into existence and occupying the 50 states that we do is by no surprise to God neither is the existence of you.
The bible teaches us that we were knit together in our mothers womb. This means that Gods intelligent, precise, and masterful weaved you together. Apart from Him you would not exist. You didn’t choose your parents, your stature, nor your intelligence. Yet He has a purpose.
Those who are in the church
Romans 12:3–6 NKJV
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;
Romans 12:3 NKJV
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
Romans 12:3–4 NKJV
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,
Even within the Body Christ has distributed Gifts to which He supplies not upon abilities but rather upon Grace. This is so no man can become puffed up or say his gift is greater than anothers for it is God given not man achieved.
I think about the story of Esther.
Esther 4:14 NKJV
For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
Think about Joseph
AS our focus often times only is on the leaders Gods is on all of his creation and his purposes. That He might achieve his plans not ours. And HE is working to do so.
How well do you stay on mission?
This is where I realize who easily i get distracted and discouraged from faithfully following Him and the task that he has sent us on.
Christ knew how important it was for us to commune with the father to
We forget who we are in Christ, hence, what he has done for us. And in return we no longer live with zeal for the things of God but rather transfer that to the worthless deeds performed upon this earth that have no reward.
I think about Christs words seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. The necessary means to life.
We get distracted by the lesser things too often.
The chief end of Man is to Glorify God and be wholly satisfied in Him.
This fleshes itself out with our relationship with him and with others, manifested by our obedience
So spending personal time with the Lord would be a signifying factor of my love for God and for others. Understanding apart from a thriving relationship with God (signified by my satisfaction in Him and obedience to his word) i will not properly love people (signified by my fulfillment of my mission) as i should.
(signified by my satisfaction in Him and obedience to his word) i will not properly love people as i should.
This (prayer) would be my attempt to draw closer to the one who has redeemed me with his blood. The penalty due for me. The one who has given me hope, life, purpose. Now i want to know him more.
We need to have a desire to pray but also need to understand the importance of prayer.
Hebrews 4:11–16 NKJV
Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews
The word of God which pierces with the warnings, and distributes wisdom.
By your word your servant is warned.
We cannot hide nothing from God.
We need the warnings. Do you enjoy warnings.
How about if your house your stove which was propane was left on with no fire and propane and filled your house. Upon the entrance into your house a spark would occur as you enter the house and made an effort to flip a simple light switch.
You would be very grateful for such a warning. Life saving.
But then also encouraged to come boldly to the throne of Grace that we may find help in time of need.
We need the communication with the father
This is only possible.
Ephesians 2:18 NKJV
For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
Ephesians
Hebrews 10:19 NKJV
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
not permitted by just anyone.
The lack of fulfillment in a christians life may be found in a lack of washing in the word/ communication with the Father. This, therefore, fleshes itself out not being a servant about the masters business but rather the servants.
Next week we will look at how do we pray.
How well are you living your mission to which Christ has sent you on?
Draw near to the
Are you a servant about the masters business?
Give Glory to God this morning through repentance and faithfulness to him as we worship him together at the close of this service.
