What Does Scripture Say? - Part 3

Questions Jesus Asks

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV 1900
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith!
Last time - we looked at the question Jesus asked
Why Are You Afraid?
Today I want to look at the question Jesus Asks
Matthew 9:28 (NKJV) "Do you believe that I am able to do this?"
Matthew 9:27–28 NKJV
27 When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” 28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”
Backdrop
Matthew 9:18–19 NKJV
18 While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” 19 So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.
Matthew 9:23–26 NKJV
23 When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24 He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. 25 But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the report of this went out into all that land.
I can’t see it!
Some people have desperate, hopeless needs! We can’t see our way out!
Some of us can’t see what Jesus is doing, we can only hear what he’s doing - many times in the lives of others
Matthew 9:27–28 AMP
27 As Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed Him, shouting loudly, Have pity and mercy on us, Son of David! 28 When He reached the house and went in, the blind men came to Him, and Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to Him, Yes, Lord.
Do You Believe
Romans 10:17 NKJV
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
God is setting victories up in your favor that you can’t see!
Crying Out
Matthew 9:27 The Message
27 As Jesus left the house, he was followed by two blind men crying out, “Mercy, Son of David! Mercy on us!”
These men persisted and kept after Jesus.
They followed Him right up to His house and somehow gained entrance. The point is, they would not give up until He helped them.
Persistence
Matthew 7:7–8 NLT
7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Now I see!
Matthew 9:29–30 NKJV
29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it.
Do you believe that I am able to do this?
2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV
7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
