Pentecost was (and is) an annual festival of the Jewish people. This day also marks the beginning of the New Testament Church. Acts 2 records the powerful sermon that was delivered by a Spirit Filled apostle Peter to the multitude. Two thousand years later, the church is still here and we are called to continue the work that was inaugurated two thousand years ago.
This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.
“…God raised up…”
“…God raised up…”
Jesus did die & was buried.
How could God raise Him if He did not die.
If there is no resurrection, then there is no salvation.
“…We are all witness…”
“…We are all witness…”
Eye witness testimony to the resurrection.
We stand on the shoulders of eye witnesses to the risen Christ!!!
“…being exulted at the right hand of God…”
“…being exulted at the right hand of God…”
Jesus is still very much ALIVE.
The head of out body (the church) is not some idea, or concept, but rather the risen Lord who is alive and at the right hand of God right now.
“…Having received the promised Holy Spirit…”
“…Having received the promised Holy Spirit…”
We are called to live Spirit-filled lives.
“…He (God) has poured out this that you are seeing and hearing.”
“…He (God) has poured out this that you are seeing and hearing.”
God poured out His Holy Spirit on the church. (Do not miss this!!!)
We are meant to be a Spirit-Filled church.
There is a way to be physically active but spiritually dead!
Matt 7 warning: We could become a church full of those who, though we prophesy in the name of Christ, cast out demons in the name of Christ, and Baptize in the name of Christ…
We don’t actually KNOW Christ.
We are destined for destruction.
The Holy Spirit’s activity in the church was always meant to be in public view.
The activity of the Holy Spirit IS our testimony to the world.
God didn’t inaugurate the church in the “information era.”
Let people see the Holy Spirit in you.
Your faith is not supposed to be private.
