This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him. After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

John 2:
John 2:23 ESV
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing.
some had saw Him turn water into wine
maybe others had seen Him or heard of Him doing other miraculous things
breaking chains of additions
casting out evil spirits
speaking in a new way to people
and they noticed & believed
what have you seen God do?
miraculous things?
we are taught to seek the supernatural in God
Sunday school Bible lessons
miraclous God
Gideon defeats the enemy 450:1 without any weapons
Sampson defeats thousands of men single handedly
Abraham & Sarah give birth when they are 90
the Israelites are trapped by the Egyptian army and God splits the red sea
do you believe b/c of what you have seen?
John 2:24–25 ESV
But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.
Jesus can see deeper into our lives than often times we can even see for ourselves
AND He didn’t trust these people who believed in His signs
Why?
b/c He knows what is in man
Israelites cross the red sea on dry ground
complain because they are going to die of starvation
God gives them fresh food everyday on the ground
complain b/c they are thirst
God has a rock give them fresh water
but they still ended up wandering for 40 years because they did not have genuine faith in God
TOO OFTEN WE HAVE A DISCONNECT FROM WHAT WE SEE WITH OUR EYES TO WHAT WE TRULY LIVE OUT IN FAITH
believed in the what happened
have troubles with the what is coming
FATIH FOR 52
I saw 78 in a week
do we believe only because of what we have seen?
what does it mean for God to see our faith as genuine?
Nicodemus wanted to know the same thing
So he was most likely one of the ones that we just read about
John 3:1–2 ESV
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.”
John 3:1-
John 3:3–8 ESV
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
John 3:9–15 ESV
Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
telling of His coming resurrection
who believes that Jesus died and rose from the grave?
of course we do
it already happened
the real question is
DO YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE LIKE HE IS COMING BACK?
as if He is truly a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him?
John 3:
John 3:16–21 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
