Luke 18:1–8 KJV 1900

1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

luke 18:1-

When a woman or a couple goes to see their OBGYN.. a good one would help prepare them for whats about to come forth.. through out the process there will be test and ultra sounds done.. just to ensure that the baby down in the inside is growing and getting all the correct nutrients it needs to survive..

so that means .. he might tell you that .. you cant eat peanut butter and pickles… or dorettos and ice cream all day.... but at some point your going to have to eat some vegetables and some food .. like momma use to say.. stick to your bones.. before you get offended .. the dr is not trying to say your doing a horrible job .. he is just trying to make sure you are ready to go thru the delivery process when the time comes...

III. Delivery

for some their blessing .. bundle of joy.. baby .. comes early.. and the dr labels it as premature.. in the majority of premature cases the baby comes but has not reached a certain level of expectancy… there fore .. creating a certain level of anxiety… depression … and uncertinalty .. because instead of being able to walk away with this new bundle of joy.. the parents are left having to leave the newborn in a isolated room.. were in some cases you can only look .. but not touch..

and its sad to say but the truth of the matter is that in some cases even after the newborn has been released from the hospital .. the child still does not make it.. because in some cases the parents were not prepared for the level of care it takes to affectively take care of the child..

in other deliveries the parents go thru the through the pregnancy normal and everything is fine .. she eats right.. walks and does all the things the dr asks her to do.. and in nine months her water breaks .. she goes to the hospital … goes into labor and out pops a 9 lb. 10 oz bouncing baby boy..

in another delvery case … its already been 9 months going on 9 1/2… and the parents begin to worry.. saying hey doc.. we have done everything you told us to do… we did all the classes.. we have made all our appointments.. we have even ready all the books we can find… so whats the problem…

the dr says… there is no problem.. its just sometimes a slight obstruction forms.. and hinders the delivery ..the dr goes on to say.. do you remember i told you that.. once your delivery comes your going to experience .. some pain… its going to be uncomfortable .. but most of all your going to have to push....

do you remember me telling you.. that even if your husband is not there… that your going to have to have someone in your corner .. encouraging you to push..... encouraging you . telling you.. just a little more… your almost their.. keep going.. dont give up ..

III. Push

i came today to tell the men… its time for you to push… im here to tell you.. that your pregnant with purpose… .. because for the last 30- 40 years men have been aborting their blessing and their dreams… their ambitions..

somewhere along the way.. society has created a competition between a man and a women.. .. its no longer about trying to make it as a team.. but its all about me me me..

society says you cant be married and get the same benfits.. or help from the state as a single parent.. even if you would only need those benefits for a shorter amount of time.. with two people in one house..

stop allowing your frustration to turn into another … get high session.. or drink a 40 session.. and turn your frustation into determination..... you may not have a love one in your corner telling you .. you can do it… telling you you can make it.. telling you .. to push…

but today the word of the Lord came in this house to tell somebody.. men espically .. but women too… that you ought to always pray and not faint..

tell your neighbor… you better start praying and stop fainting..

you might be saying brother preacher.. you dont know my story… you see ive made some mistakes in my life… and who couldn't possibly understand..

well my brother .. my sister… i got news for you.. try going and filling out an application.. being saved and sanctified… and when you get to the question that ask if you have been convicted as a felon… or do you have any felonies on your record… .. imagine being someone who all you want to do is please God.. sitting there on a computer.. or in a room .. thinking about lying on the application just so you can feed your family..

imagine.. being told your qualified to do the job.. or i really want to hire you… but your record...

imagine being used by so many people .. being put down.. being looked at like your just another project… and building a wall so big and thick emotionally and saying ill never be hurt again… and when you want to break it down.. when you wan to tear it down… it want budge..

imagine yourself.. being placed in a leadership role and folk treating you like you dont know what your doing because your younger than them… imagine folk getting mad at you because you dont give them what they want.. imagine being a pastor and other folk going around telling people they supposed to be the pastor...

and after all that.. the only thing God says is… men alt to always pray and not faint...

IV. text

in our text jesus said - men ought to always pray… other translations says --- they… but we are going to go with the kjv ..becasue i believe that man is still the head… yea i know right now its all about women this and women that.. this in some cases is great .. but in other cases it creates chaos … because thats not the way God intended it to be..

I belive that if God will have rocks cry out and make donkey speak… that if he has work that needs to be done ....he will use who he has to use…to get it done..

in our text we have Jesus reminding the diciples that they need to pray and not faint.. the culture in 2019 is that when you say pray.. it means that you begin to petition God .. or your behalf or on behalf of someon else..

however when you look up the word Pray in dictionary… or type pray in googles search engine… it means a request or to give an expression of thanks to God..

and so we have Jesus giving a parable of a woman and a king...

you have to understadn that this was in a time when there were no womens rights… no marches saying... this is my body.. not yours… but this was a time when if you were raped .. you thanked God you were still alive.. and then nine months latter thanked God because he is the giver of life.. not man.. because man is just the carrier of the seed..

in the parable .. Jesus described how this women had a problem going on.. and the only one she felt could resolve it was a man.. a judge.... he wasnt just a judge but he was the type of guy who did what he wanted .. when he wanted.. and to whoever he wanted… but on top of all that.. he didnt even fear God....

so in my 1960s voice… he was a bad man..

in the parable the woman went to the judge not once .. not twice.. but for a while.. imagine going down to the court house and filing a motion to go before the judge.. and the judge doesnt even read your name on the docket… or worst .. reads it but says i dont have time to hear this case..

imagine going back and forth for a year.. and then the judge finally says ill hear the case..

then verse 6 says.. hear what he unjust judge says..

but all of a sudden

luke 18:6-

the lord is asking who has enough faith to Push… who has enough faith .. to keep praying unitl something happen..

who has the fatih to belive God .. to keep going in the good time.. the bad time.. the ugly time.. the time when you feel like giving up.. the time when you feel like throwing in th e towel..

dont just give up when things start going rough.. dont give in when its been 5 .. 6 months..

hebrews the 11th chapter talks about how by faith Abrham and others did and believed God.. but . says yet they obtained a good reoprt they died not recievng all the promises of God..
