In Divine Design, people go into a persons house and they begin redoing it to make it better. They change whatever needs to be changed—they redo the foundations if needed, move walls, redo electrical, lighting, furniture and curtains---they do all types of changes.

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? Since we are the Temple of God, the place where the Spirit of God dwells, we need to look at our design and make sure it is the way God wants it to be.

Foundation—

KJV For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Foundation- beginnings, first principals of institution or system of truth. Jesus Christ is our foundation, whom we may not turn away in the least amount in the building up of this building.
The foundation is the Doctrine of our Savior. Doctrine lies at the very bottom, is the Foundation of all the rest. Doctrine is the principles of what we believe about God, Christ, Holy Spirit, Salvation, Eternity, Hell, etc.

I. Picture of a Bad Foundation-Luke 6:49 Hearer but Not a Doer--

49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
It is not enough to hear the sayings of Christ, but we must do them, not enough to profess relation to him, but we must obey Him.
--It is putting on a front to call him Lord, Lord, as if we have devoted ourselves to Him, if we do not conform to His will. When we do this, even our prayers are an abomination(()
--It is putting a Cheat on ourselves—when we think that mere profession of religion will save us, we cheat ourselves.
Matthew 7:21–27 KJV 1900
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
When we are mere hearers but not doers, we have a bad foundation under.
When we are mere hearers but not doers, we have a bad foundation under.

Areas of Danger with a Bad Foundation:

1) Assurance- living for Christ is more than walking an aisle
2) Self-examination- we live unconcerned for our sins. Yet, God tells us to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith. To profess to be a Christian and continue to live in known sin makes God a liar, and that is not so.
3) Religious activity- attending church, hearing sermons, singing songs of the faith, reading the Bible ---these can actually insulate you from God. By doing these things, you may think you are being faithful and obedient, when in reality you are not.

--The Bottom line is, the person on a bad foundation is the person who DOES NOT act on God’s Word.

--“sand” –composed of human opinions, attitudes, and wills which always shift and are unstable. To build on sand is to build on self-fulfillment, self-purpose, self-satisfaction and self-righteousness. It is the EASY WAY out.

II. Picture of a Good Foundation-- KJV 47 Hearer and a Doer

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock
Our FOUNDATION is Jesus Christ. We build our life on what Jesus says—on His principles.

Did you know that the only validation of your salvation is a life of Obedience?

It is a life of internal righteousness and not external form. It is a life with a godly attitude, godly motives. It is a life emptied of self-righteousness and pride, and is overwhelmed by and mourns over sin.
The wise man builds carefully- because there is great substance and importance to what he is building. The Foundation is Christ—but what do you believe about Him? About your life? About your responsibilities?
The wise man does not consider his job burdensome—it is a delight to serve the Lord and to live in obedience to Him.

Living on the True Foundation-:

a)faithfully- NLT But you, dear friends, must continue to build your lives on the foundation of your holy faith. And continue to pray as you are directed by the Holy Spirit.
Live in accordance to what God is teaching you and has taught you. What do you believe about Salvation, Bible, Eternity, Hell, Marriage and Divorce, importance of Worship, etc. It is not enough to believe or to know these things, we must be faithful to do them. Then, we are to do them:
b) Righteously-NLT Clouds and darkness surround him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. We must live lives that are right before God and others. We need to be reminded that we are His Tabernacle.
c) Reverently- NLT Reverence for the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom. The rewards of wisdom come to all who obey him. Praise his name forever!
To live reverently is to fall down before Him in awe, honoring and worshipping Him. To pay Him due respect.
d) Hopeful-- NLT Disaster strikes like a cyclone, whirling the wicked away, but the godly have a lasting foundation
Life is a Preparation for eternity-NLT God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.
That is what this life is all about—preparing us for eternity. If someone were to ask you what life is all about, what would you say? We are looking forward to eternity. There is more to life than what we have here. Once we understand this, that life is more than here and now, that we were made to last forever, your life will be changed. My life is significant to God. My priorities are not the same—I now realize that I am made to last forever.
We’re here for 5 Purposes--KJV The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
