The Message (MSG)
The Message (MSG)
There’s a Right Time for Everything
There’s a Right Time for Everything
3 There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth:
2-8 A right time for birth and another for death,
A right time to plant and another to reap,
A right time to kill and another to heal,
A right time to destroy and another to construct,
A right time to cry and another to laugh,
A right time to lament and another to cheer,
A right time to make love and another to abstain,
A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go,
A right time to rip out and another to mend,
A right time to shut up and another to speak up,
A right time to love and another to hate,
A right time to wage war and another to make peace.
9-13 But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does? I’ve had a good look at what God has given us to do—busywork, mostly. True, God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time—but he’s left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he’s coming or going. I’ve decided that there’s nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life. That’s it—eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It’s God’s gift.
14 I’ve also concluded that whatever God does, that’s the way it’s going to be, always. No addition, no subtraction. God’s done it and that’s it. That’s so we’ll quit asking questions and simply worship in holy fear.
15 Whatever was, is.
Whatever will be, is.
That’s how it always is with God.
A time for everything
A time for everything
The Bible contains many great poems. is one of the most popular poems in the Bible.
It declares that every human activity, whether small or great, has its proper time. There is a right time and a wrong time to do all these things. When a person carries out these actions at the right time, his efforts are usually successful. But at a wrong time, the same efforts would not be successful.
This is a kind of natural wisdom that God has placed in the world. Sometimes, plants and animals seem to understand it better than people do (). Nobody teaches the plants and animals, but they are still able to carry out their activities at the right time each year.
But people must study if they want to know the right time to do each task. A wise person uses that knowledge when he arranges his work. That is how a wise farmer decides when to sow his seed. That is how a wise king decides when to make peace with his enemies. That is how everyone should arrange every activity.
A foolish person also knows that there is a right and wrong time for each activity. But he does not study like the wise person. Instead, the foolish person thinks that it is just a matter of chance. When his work fails because of his foolish decision, he blames his luck. Or he blames God. In fact, he will blame anyone – apart from himself!
But God has arranged that there is a proper time for everything. There is even a proper time when people should trust God to save them. That time is now ().
God reminds us, I heard your call in the nick of time; The day you needed me, I was there to help. Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped.
Now is God’s time to save you
Now is God’s time to save you
In every period of 50 years, there was one very special year in ancient Israel. It was called the year of Jubilee. In that year, there was a declaration of freedom for all the country’s inhabitants. They would return to their family homes, and their family’s land would belong to them again*. That was a year of God’s kindness, a special time when he showed his goodness.
God spoke about another time when he would show special kindness to people in and . Then, too, there would be freedom for the people. God would deal with the things that were wrong in their lives. It is very interesting that Jesus used the second of these passages to describe his own work for God, in .
Here, Paul refers to the other passage, . There, God declares that, at that special time, God will answer the prayers of his servant; he will help his people. The ‘servant’ in Isaiah can mean either Christ, or Israel. The subject of is how God will bring back Israel’s people to their own land. However, Paul uses to show how God is bringing people from every nation into a right relationship with him. God has chosen a particular, special time to do these things.
So, God has chosen a special time to give freedom to the people. Like a day, that time has a definite beginning and end. It can last for longer than people consider a day to be*; but it cannot last always. During this period of time only, God offers to save people. That is, to rescue them from their real enemies: their sin (wrong and evil thoughts, words and deeds), the devil and hell.
As in , Paul declares that now is that special time. Today is the day when God offers to rescue you. Today, God is willing to forgive your sins because of Christ’s death. Today, God urges you to turn from your sins and to accept a right relationship with Christ*. Today, you should let God’s grace (kindness) achieve its proper purpose in your life*.
If you delay, you may be too late. That is why you must let God work in your life now.
Point 1. I heard God Call when he needs us for his purpose and I listened and answered on God’s time, not mine and I received his help to fulfill his purpose and therefore my purpose was fulfilled also because I was obedient!
“For still the vision awaits its appointed
Since we know that God is completely sovereign over time and for the timing in our life for that matter, we can say with confidence “there is a time and a way for everything, although man’s trouble lies heavy on him” () since “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (). Depend on God’s timing to be perfect, even when we’re not.

time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”
Point 2
This verse comes after Habakkuk had just complained about all the injustices saying “Is he then to keep on emptying his net and mercilessly killing nations forever” () so God’s answer was there is an appointed time for it Habakkuk. It will not hasten to the end until God determines the time is perfect. God reassures Habakkuk to trust in God’s judgment and to “wait for it; it will surely come” and “will not delay” meaning God’s timing is always perfect.
Point 3
I have to wait on God to fulfill the vision, purpose and mission that has been assigned my life. God does not lie, so therefore it may take awhile for the life that he has predestined and pre-ordained to manifest itself, but it will come on time for me to help others which will in turn help me to fulfill my life in God also.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.”
Point 4
Since we know that God is completely sovereign over time and for the timing in our life for that matter, we can say with confidence “there is a time and a way for everything, although man’s trouble lies heavy on him” () since “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (). Depend on God’s timing to be perfect, even when we’re not.
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Point 5
Have you ever seen an eagle soar? They seem to fly effortlessly, gliding high in the heavens with little or no effort to stay there. That’s a great image of God. We can soar above the storms if we wait on Him and if necessary, we can pass through the storms being mounted “up with wings like eagles.” In this way we can walk without fainting because God will renew the strength of those who wait upon Him and wait for His perfect timing.
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
Point 6
This is the greatest of all timing for our sake because it Jesus came at the fullness of time, meaning that it was at the exact time when all things were fulfilled. Only then did God sent His Son to redeem those who were under the curse of the law. God did this so that we might be redeemed and then adopted () and become the children of God.
