Wisdom is more precious than Gold

Proverbs 3:13–14 NIV84
13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, 14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.

The Hebrew word for wisdom is hakmah.

hakmah/wisdom is a lady

Proverbs 3:15–18 NIV84
15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. 17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.
Wisdom is not a commodity that one can posses. Wisdom is found in God and a person is called to relate to wisdom.
On the other hand there is a seducer that will lead a person away to ruin.
Siklut or Folly is an adulterous
Proverbs 5:1–10 NIV84
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen well to my words of insight, 2 that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge. 3 For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; 4 but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. 6 She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths are crooked, but she knows it not. 7 Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say. 8 Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house, 9 lest you give your best strength to others and your years to one who is cruel, 10 lest strangers feast on your wealth and your toil enrich another man’s house.
Proverbs 3:15–18 NIV84
15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. 17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.

siklut or folly seduces a person and leads them away to destruction.

A
There is a seducing spirit that causes people to become self interested and self gratified. This seducing spirit is rampant in the world today and can easily draw a person away from the goodness of God. There are not many that are wise with the wisdom that comes from God.
James (the proverbs of the NT) tells us of Two Kinds of Wisdom
James 3:13–18 NIV84
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. 17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

The Spirit of Wisdom came upon Jesus.

Isaiah 11:1–4 NIV84
1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord 3 and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; 4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

We can have relationship with the same Spirit of Wisdom (the Holy Spirit)

Ephesians 1:17–20 NIV84
17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,

We can have the Spirit of Wisdom moving leading and guiding us in life.

James 1:5–8 NIV84
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
I want to ask you today do you need wisdom? I believe the Holy Spirit wants to come upon us and lead us into the good things that God has prepared for us. But there are some that have gotten distracted. There are some that have been seduced. There are some that have become self absorbed and self focused. And there are some who have doubted and are double minded.
Why not ask God today to fill you with the Spirit of Wisdom?
