1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts.
2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
He (God) rest and blessed.
Often times we get so caught up in our business that we don't disconnect to bless or be blessed
Notice, Then (after He rested) God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it.
Have you ever heard the expression, "you can't see the forest for the trees?”
This expression is used of someone who is too involved in the details of a problem to look at the situation as a whole.
We have to learn to step back so we can see the blessings.
Lack of rest brings distortion! You ever been so tired that you cant think correctly?
Listen, sometimes things are not that bad. You just need a nap.
He rested and notice, His rest is connected to sanctification or Holy.
Matthew Henry says, "God did not rest as one weary but one well pleased."
Rest does not point to weakness or failure but wisdom and success.
Success because you have found joy, or pleasure in your work.
Notice how God finishes each of His days…
He worked saw that it was good and He stop…
I must say one who does not work has nothing to bless.
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
10 For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
Listen if you don't work, you will have nothing to eat..
But the man who will not rest will waste his food.
We must learn to work… Finish.. call it good.. and rest…
It is the desire of the evil one to wear down the church to make them so tired and busy that they stop pursuing and pressing into Joy and truth.
it will increase as the days near when the Lord will come.
25 ‘He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.
(NASB95)
Its very hard to have joy, when you are exhausted…

Listen, People are tired.
Good people.. strong people.. old people… young people.
30 Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly,
(NASB95)
and often when one is tired they are overly negative.
30 Though (EVEN) youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
As I see it, tiredness is a great attack on the church today
And we do ourselves no favor…
It is possible to be successful and tired..
Tiredness does not point to a lack of success but it could mean the opposite..
Tiredness for manifest in stress, worry, even fear…
Tiredness can lead to,
· We feel more stressed.
· We feel less joy.
· We are less productive.
· We are less connected to God.
· We feel more disconnected from our family.
Listen, some of you need a vacation or a nap.. my goodness…
Look at
30 The apostles gathered together with Jesus; and they reported to Him all that they had done and taught.
31 And He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.” (For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.)
32 They went away in the boat to a secluded place by themselves.

Right after John the Baptist was beheaded the disciple came to Jesus telling Him all that they have been doing and teaching…
Jesus is like, you have work and it was good, now..
“Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.”
They were so busy they didn’t even have time to eat…
Teachers, the school year was good. Now gets some rest..
For my farmer, after harvest call it good and go rest..
Because if we don’t rest we wont be ready for the next thing and for the discples that was feeding 5,000
Rest allows us to refocus
Jesus loves for us to rest..
28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
(NASB95)

There is a difference between being lazy and resting…
Don’t feel guilty for resting you need it. Jesus did it
16 However, he continued his habit of retiring to deserted places and praying.
I love how the International Standard Version reads it

9 “Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.

God wants us rested…
Look at Jesus again
23 After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone.

Once and a while we need to turn off the phone… get off facebook.. and send the crowd away…
After He feed 5,000… after he works, He rest….

Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
John Gill in his Exposition of the Bible says this,“And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it,.... A day in which he took delight and pleasure, having finished all his works, and resting from them, and looking over them as very good; and so he pronounced this day a good and happy day, and "sanctified" or appointed it in his mind to be a day separated from others, for holy service and worship”

for those that say I am too busy.. no one was more busy than the Lord..
3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, “As I swore in My wrath, They shall not enter My rest,” although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.
(NASB95)
3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said,
“As I swore in My wrath,
They shall not enter My rest,”
although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.
We can rest .
