After WWII, with much of the world in shambles from the ravages of war, world leaders began a plan.
They would promote an institution that would remove the possibility of war.
President Woodrow Wilson attempted such a feet after WWI, but he failed.
This time, the need seemed greater and people seemed more eager to join.
The United Nations was born out of this desire to end wars.
The thought was international communication could solve many of the problems.
Overtime, not everyone agreed.
Former Belgium Prime Minister made a statement:
The truth is that the method of international committees has failed.
What we need is a person, someone of the highest order, or great experience, of great authority, of wide influence, of great energy.
Let him come and let him come quickly.
Either a civilian or a military man, no matter what his nationality, who will cut all the red tape, shove out of the way all the committees, wake up all the people and galvanize all governments into action.
Let him come quickly.
This man we need and for whom we wait will take charge of the defense of the west.
Once more I say, it is not too late, but it is hight time.
This speech was not made recently, but before 1970.
There is panic in Europe over the instability of the European Union.
We see nations rising up to defend and take care of themselves.
But what will happen when the rapture occurs?
What will take place when in an instant, over millions of people vanish without a trace?
Chaos will ensue.
People will look to someone who will be able to help the catastrophe.
There will be concern about the future.
At this point, there will be someone who will rise to power.
With the church gone and the Antichrist in power, the world will enter the tribulation.
When the tribulation begins, the church will be gone.
We will be heaven because we will be taken from earth at the rapture.
While we are in heaven we will be at the judgment seat of Christ, where we will receive our rewards for what we did for God on earth.
But what will happen on earth?
The world will enter the tribulation.
Tribulation is defined, “a state of great trouble or suffering.
With the church out of the way, Satan will lead the world through the Antichrist to inflict a series of severe judgments.
1.
What judgments will take place in Tribulation?
But will Satan really be in charge?
No, all of this will lead to the end of his power in earth and the ushering in of Christ’s Kingdom.
In , John was caught up into heaven where He had a revelation of all that God has planned in these last days.
In heaven there is a scroll.
This scroll contained seven pieces of paper, if you will.
But the scroll was sealed and no one was able to open.
John was worried, but finally he realized, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah could open the scroll and make known the mystery of what was to take place.
The tribulation will be a time of intense judgment and demonic power.
But God will be the one who has the final say.
Tonight we will look at the first three and a half years of the tribulation.
I want to answer three questions, [What judgments will take place in the Tribulation?],
[How will the Antichrist Come to Power], and [Will anyone be saved?]
1.
What judgments will take place in Tribulation?
When we look at the tribulation, we need to think of it in two parts, the tribulation and the great tribulation.
During the first three-and-a-half years, the Antichrist will rise to power and set up his government.
The last three-and-a-half years will be when Satan is cast down from heaven.
The latter part is the known as the great tribulation.
When Jesus opened the seal, the first four seals depict four horses.
The first seal- a white horse, depicts the Antichrist.
He will have power to conquer the world, we will more at this later.
The second seal- a red horse, depicts war.
Revelation 1:
The tribulation will be a time of war, with nation rising against nation.
The third seal- a black horse- depicts hunger and starvation.
With war on the rise, money will become tight and worldwide famine will follow.
The price of food will skyrocket and people will have to pay a days wages just to get enough food for a meal.
The fourth seal- a pale horse, depicts death.
Through war, famine, and persecution, one fourth of the world will die during the tribulation.
Revelation 6:
The fifth seal- the cry of the martyrs.
We will focus more on this one in a little bit.
The sixth seal- signs in the sky.
Revelation 6:12-1
We hear a lot about climate change.
Imagine what they will think when the sun and moon cease the shine like normal.
Sadly, these judgments that are meant to get people closer to the Lord, will not work.
They will be se entrenched in sin, they will dig their heels in and refuse to budge.
The seventh seal will open a series of seven more judgments, the seven trumpets.
The four horses/cry of the martyrs/cosmic disturbances
Seven trumpets:
The seven trumpet judgments are described in .
Let’s summarize:
Seven trumpets:
First trumpet- one third of all the trees, grass, and vegetation will burn.
Second trumpet- one third of the sea will turn to blood, which will cause one third of the sea creatures to die, and one third of the ships will be destroyed.
Third trumpet- fresh/drinking water, will become bitter and undrinkable.
Fourth trumpet- one third of the sun, moon, and stars will become dark.
Fifth trumpet- locusts from the bottomless pit will torment people for five months.
Sixth trumpet- the Euphrates rive will dry up and one third of the population will die.
Why is judgment necessary?
Today we live in an age of grace, but the tribulation will be an age of judgment.
God HAS to take care of sin, which entered in the Garden.
Why is judgment necessary?
Today we live in an age of grace, but there will be an age of judgment.
God HAS to take care of sin, which entered in the Garden.
Presently, Satan is let loose.
However, after the rapture, at the start of the tribulation, God will begin the process of subduing Satan and eventually eliminating him.
Remember, this is only the first half of the tribulation.
Judgment will intensify as the tribulation lingers.
2. How will the Antichrist come into power?
1 John 1:
The title Antichrist is found four times in the Bible.
However, what he will do is described in detail in both the Old and New Testament.
When we think Antichrist, think OPPOSITE of Christ.
He will be everything Jesus is not and everything the evil world will want.
