Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Death Is Separation - There are two deaths we can experience.
Separation of our body from our spirit.

Where does the soul go when we die? Extreme difficulty of distinguishing between soul and spirit.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
James contributes to this need for the word to separate sound and spirit.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Our souls must be purified.

All People Have A Spirit.
