Tonight we are talking about worship - let’s take a look into the life of David.

1. Hallah

(NLT) — 3 I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies.
DEFINE- This word means to boast or to brag to compare.
(NLT) — 7 Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God.
KEY POINT- When you introduce worship to your struggle you have not brought in a comparison.
POINT- God is better than my problem is bad. God is greater than my problem is strong.
CHALLENGE- Have you been boasting about your problems more than you have been boasting about God.
(NLT) — 23 As he was talking with them, Goliath, the Philistine champion from Gath, came out from the Philistine ranks. Then David heard him shout his usual taunt to the army of Israel. 24 As soon as the Israelite army saw him, they began to run away in fright. 25 “Have you seen the giant?” the men asked. “He comes out each day to defy Israel. The king has offered a huge reward to anyone who kills him. He will give that man one of his daughters for a wife, and the man’s entire family will be exempted from paying taxes!” 26 David asked the soldiers standing nearby, “What will a man get for killing this Philistine and ending his defiance of Israel? Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?”
(NLT) — 37 The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the Lord be with you!”
Can you see the worship happening in David.
KEY- Some of the greatest worship you will ever give God will be from you standing your ground when it is not easy.
POINT- You just have to introduce the comparison.
CHALLENGE- Stop boasting about how hard life is and start boasting about how great God is!

2. Yadah

(NLT) — 5 Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and

DEFINE- Yadah means to worship with extended hands; often used in times of struggle asking for help.
KEY- David used this word often in times when he felt the pressure of his enemies.
(NLT) — 1 Declare me innocent, O God! Defend me against these ungodly people. Rescue me from these unjust liars. 2 For you are God, my only safe haven. Why have you tossed me aside? Why must I wander around in grief, oppressed by my enemies? 3 Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. 4 There I will go to the altar of God, to God—the source of all my joy. I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God! 5 Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!
KEY- Praise allows you to expereince the comfort of a father that loves you.
(NLT) — 3 When David and his men saw the ruins and realized what had happened to their families, 4 they wept until they could weep no more. 5 David’s two wives, Ahinoam from Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal from Carmel, were among those captured. 6 David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him.
