INTRO & PRAYER

DEVOTIONAL|| Trusting God in death

It is never easy when a person dies no matter the age or state of life they were in.
Death always reminds us of how fragile we are as humans and brings to the surface some to the most vulnerable questions that we wrestle with.
How do we face the inevitable with a hope that surpasses the weight of death? How to find a place to stand when we are mourning?
Betty had a very clear perspective of the answer to this - she beautiful wrote in her journal this truth
We ask "Where was God" God is here, He stands beside you. God is here, He wants to guide you. God is here,
He wants to help you. So do not fear, My God is near.  This was my answer today, I have experienced it all the time.
Dear friends This is our answer today, God Is near. We can experience it all the time when we put our faith in Christ.
Jesus said that he never leaves us or for sakes us that he is with us always to the end of this life until we are with him in heaven.
And we know that Betty is experiencing the overwhelming presence of God right now as she entered into the presence of God in its fullness. That is the hope we have In Christ -Eternal Life with Him and life to the fullest now.
John 10:10 ESV
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
The hope and joy we look for is found in the presence of God. We face the difficulties of life by standing upon the promises of God, trusting in his word. For His promises are true and he always delivers.

Betty knew this and lived it.
Betty Entrusted herself to God she noted in her Journal
“You are my God, my times are in your hands”
Matthew 10:39 ESV
Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
That Scripture is a perfect description of the way Betty lived her life. She loved life and lived it well following God lead as she served others, loved well, and thanked God through way she lived.
i “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” That Scripture is a perfect description of the way (name of deceased ) lived his life. He loved life and lived it well. His story was blended into the story of so many others.
Betty placed herself in the Hands of God and their she found joy and peace.

Betty placed herself in the Hands of God and their she found joy and peace.
I think Betty’s life and legacy turns our eyes to Christ with deep thankfulness to God for what he has done and his faithfulness. Her life speaks of trust and thankfulness to God.
Thankfulness is a powerful attitude and is the soothing balm that allows us to bear the most painful things in our lives. When we walk through the door of thankfulness many things happen in us – we choose to honour the Lord, our relationships, and our selves by choosing it. Thankfulness is the attitude that evicts discontentment, envy, criticism, and the like. When we choose to remember with thankful hearts we choose let the good things raise to the top to allow us to have a raft to sail upon in the waters of grief. Though they do not disappear we have hope in the midst of it.
And this is not just wishful thinking. In life, it is very easy to get bogged down by the toils, struggles, and pain. Though those things will always remain until we leave earth the truth that is set up against it is the goodness and faithfulness of God.
Our thankfulness becomes more than positive attitude and wishful thinking when it is directed towards and attached by faith to the promises of Jesus Christ –
Our thankfulness becomes more than positive attitude and wishful thinking when it is directed towards and attached by faith to the promises of Jesus Christ – who in his time here on earth went to the funeral of friend and proclaimed the promise and hope of life after death –
1 Peter 5:10–11 ESV
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

And iafter you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, jwho has called you to his keternal glory in Christ, will himself lrestore, mconfirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 nTo him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Deuteronomy 30:19–20 ESV
I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
Deut 30:19-20
How is we face death and difficulties life throws at us? We trust in the one who over came death. We seek the answer that betty sought - God is with me, He hold my times in his hands.
It come through thankfulness and trust in the the promises of God and trusting in this son JEsus Christ.
John 11:25–27 ESV
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”
Betty believed this! So we rejoice in her new life with Christ as she takes up her residence with her Saviour in his eternal kingdom.
John 11:
