I. One Method
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
(v.4) “There is one body” You will notice in the previous verse that Paul tells us to be diligent to preserve the Unity of the Spirit. This tells us the hidden movement of the Spirit. He is working in the hearts of believers not only to make you look like Christ, but also to unify you to other believers in the body. Paul then tells us “there is one body” in the 238 countries of the world now there are 33,000 distinct denominations. When the church there was one denomination built on the Apostle Doctrine. When he uses “the word body” is he talking literally or figuratively.
12 For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.
(v.12) In this chapter of Corinthians Paul is the gifts that each member of the church has and how these gifts serve the health of the body. We can determine from this text that from Heaven God knows there are many denomination he only sees the universal church which makes up his “body” So although there are many people who make up the church each person serves “the one body”
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
(v.4) “There is one body and one Spirit” Paul moves from the body and then tells us about the unseen power behind the unity of the church. Let’s take a look at him for a second
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
