Introduction

As believers we need to be constently in prayer

Prayer is not somthing we just do at meal times

If we would sincearly pray for those we are prone to critisize we would ultmetly do them much more good

or tack on to the end of the service.

prayer shold never become ritulistic

The three imparities we see here are ask, seek, and knock these are in the present tense this suggests persuasive and frequent prayer

Fervent continual prayer is to be made on behalf of those for whom we are concerned

Jesus gives practical application of persistence in asking when there is need.

Jesus gives several parables throughout the scripture on persistent prayer.

The present tense tells us that we should keep asking to keep seeking.

This is a continuious thing.

Seek and you will find

in an earlier section of the sermon on the mount Christ told the listeners to seek the kingdom

God promises to answer all genuine prayer.

Everything we need for spiritual success has been promised to us.

God leaves us no excuse for failure Ask and it shall be given to you Seek and you shall find Knock and it shall be opened to you for everyone that does such shall receive an answer.

These blessings are available to every Believer and they are not cut off.

It is natural that if someone needs something they knock on a door until it is opened, the same is true in our prayer life a believer should pray in faith for God’s provision and be in persistent prayer

Obviously this is not saying that we will always get what we ask for.

The more time a believer spends in prayer and devotion to God the more the believer will know what is within the will of God.

Prayer itself does not produce increasing holiness in the life of a believer.

but it does show a dependence on God for needs that for needs that can not be met any other way.

While no one would deny that there are fathers who have abused or even deserted their families, Jesus takes his illustration from the usual ordinary family relationship between father and son.

When Jesues calls His true diciples

Jesus is not referring to the evil acts as he is their fallen human nature.

Even true disciples retain their sin nature until they are glorified

the point is if a true disciple with a fallen nature can express love to their children by giving good gifts how much more shall one who is intrinsically good,

your heavenly father gives good things to His Children.

however, these good things do not come automatically there must be continued asking which shows a true since of dependence and confidence in Him

According to it is the holy spirit who is promised to those who are asking.

In light of the fact that the promise of the coming of the holy spirit was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost to indwell each believer forever the true disciple today cannot and needs not ask to receive the holy spirit Whatever is included in the good things given to us it is because the heavily father is the giver and he cares for his children
