Introduction
As believers we need to be constently in prayer
Prayer is not somthing we just do at meal times
If we would sincearly pray for those we are prone to critisize we would ultmetly do them much more good
or tack on to the end of the service.
prayer shold never become ritulistic
Prayer is the essence of the Christian life.
I. God responds to those who pray V. 7-8
The three imparities we see here are ask, seek, and knock these are in the present tense this suggests persuasive and frequent prayer
Fervent continual prayer is to be made on behalf of those for whom we are concerned
A. Ask, and it will be given to you
Jesus gives practical application of persistence in asking when there is need.
Jesus gives several parables throughout the scripture on persistent prayer.

The present tense tells us that we should keep asking to keep seeking.
This is a continuious thing.
The present tence tells us that we should keep asking keep seeking
Are you asking your God for those things which you desire?
Seek and you will find
no one seeks unless there is a sence of motivation
Jesus has commanded His true disciples to seek first the kingdom of God and His riotousness and God will add the things
Motivation must be properly directed.
Jesues has comanded His true deciples to seek first the kingdom of God and His richousness and God will add the things
Motivation must be proporly directed.
a true disciple of God will seek those things which are above
Motivation must be proporly directed.
a true diciple of God will seek those things which are above
What is it believers should be seeking?
We should seek Christ Himself
in an earlier section of the sermon on the mount Christ told the listeners to seek the kingdom
This takes us back to
2. Are you seeking the the will of God?
This takes us back to
2. Are you seeking the the will of God?
Knock and it will be opened to you
no one knocks unless there is inquiry
The Lord may use more than one method to open a door, however, when the true disciple Knocks the door shall be opened
Matt
God promises to answer all genuine prayer.
Everything we need for spiritual success has been promised to us.
God leaves us no excuse for failure Ask and it shall be given to you Seek and you shall find Knock and it shall be opened to you for everyone that does such shall receive an answer.
These blessings are available to every Believer and they are not cut off.
It is natural that if someone needs something they knock on a door until it is opened, the same is true in our prayer life a believer should pray in faith for God’s provision and be in persistent prayer

3. Are you Knocking?
Are you Knocking?
Will a believer always get what He asks for
Obviously this is not saying that we will always get what we ask for.
The more time a believer spends in prayer and devotion to God the more the believer will know what is within the will of God.
Prayer itself does not produce increasing holiness in the life of a believer.
but it does show a dependence on God for needs that for needs that can not be met any other way.
II.
God gives good Good 9-11
no one knocks unless there is inquiry
The Lord may use more than one method to open a door, however, when the true disiple Knocks the door shall be opened

While no one would deny that there are fathers who have abused or even deserted their families, Jesus takes his illustration from the usual ordinary family relationship between father and son.
In such familial love it would be unthinkable for a father to Give a son something undesirable or even venomous when he asks for needed food.

Bread and fish were staples especillt around the sea of gallilee and a stone and a snake were also common so that this illistration would not go unnoticed or be misunderstood Jesus applies this illistration in a remarkable way

The term evil is used of mans sinful nature even sinful men are kind to there children therfore how much more shall our hevenly father delight to answer your prayers.

therfore rather than judgein others we are to treat them as we would like to be treated.
When Jesues calls His true diciples
Jesus is not referring to the evil acts as he is their fallen human nature.
Even true disciples retain their sin nature until they are glorified
the point is if a true disciple with a fallen nature can express love to their children by giving good gifts how much more shall one who is intrinsically good,
your heavenly father gives good things to His Children.
however, these good things do not come automatically there must be continued asking which shows a true since of dependence and confidence in Him
According to it is the holy spirit who is promised to those who are asking.
In light of the fact that the promise of the coming of the holy spirit was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost to indwell each believer forever the true disciple today cannot and needs not ask to receive the holy spirit Whatever is included in the good things given to us it is because the heavily father is the giver and he cares for his children
