Introduction
Missions ~ Bible Study ~ 3/12/14
Grace Church of Lockeford
Introduction
DON’T READ.
Salt Shaker – Taste.
Lights on stage – Switch on and off.
Flashlight – under towel.
Let Your Light Shine!
Jesus never intended us to keep gospel to ourselves.
Needs to be heard by everyone!
records a little different look at the great commission.
This verse challenges us to reach the lost.
This verse commands us to preach Christ.
Only through the gospel of Jesus Christ are people saved.
Because that is true we need to take two actions.
Action #1…
1. Go
What do you think of when you hear the word go?
Action word!
Do something.
Specific action, thought out, preplanned.
Paul missionary journeys, route planned goals in mind.
Not haphazard.
Have specific plan and method.
Be consistent and planned when sharing the gospel.
When a conversation starts, be thinking of how to lead it to Spiritual things.
How can we practically do that?
Into all the world – the command was to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Not just where you live, but other nations.
Not just other nations, but where you live!
Look at v. 20.
They preached everywhere.
Think about where apostles preached, the worship centers of other religions (temple, mars hill), prison, house arrest, as a castaway on an island, in a chariot, by a river and the list goes on!
They preached Christ everywhere they went because they took the commands of God literally!
God meant what He said!
And they acted on it!
What would going everywhere look like today?
Bars?
Mosques?
Rock concerts?
Is the command only for them?
We too are commanded to go.
Go to your neighbor, your friends, your acquaintances.
Go to other nations, if you are retired and bored, go be a missionary!
(S).
Lifestyle!
Preach everywhere!
Be witnesses of what Christ has done in your life.
For the gospel to be effective, lost people need to hear it.
That means you and I need to get out of our comfort zone and reach them.
Action #1 is to Go. Go and do what?
Say nice things?
Action #2.
Don’t just go be nice.
Go and…
2. Preach
Verse 15, preach the gospel to every creature.
As we go, we preach.
Just like the apostles, we should preach Christ everywhere we go!
Not just good words, but the gospel.
I know of people who travel the world preaching that God loves you, but not that Christ died for you.
Missing the whole point!
Ephesians tells us God’s love caused Him to send Christ!
The love of God and the sacrifice of Christ are inseparably linked!
Who are we to share the gospel with?
Every creature.
We are to preach the good news of Jesus death, burial, and resurrection to every creature because it is good news!
It is good news to every creature because Christ died for every creature!
Otherwise there would be no reason to preach to them all!
Every man woman and child can be saved by believing in Jesus Christ!
tells us God’s heart on the matter (S).
Not willing that any should perish.
Any and all clearly indicate that God’s desire is for everyone to be saved.
Then why aren’t they?
God won’t force mankind to accept Him.
He woos and He convicts and He draws, but He never forces.
There is only one condition for salvation, belief.
This is clearly spelled out in (S).
If you believe, you are not condemned.
If you don’t believe, then you are condemned.
When the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas what he could do to be saved, Paul said “…Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved...”
Preach the good news about Christ.
Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.
What do we preach?
Turn to (p. 1323).
(p.
1323)
Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.
It’s that simple!
Christ died for you!
Believe in Him and be saved.
That is what we preach!
That is what we believe!
For the gospel to be effective, it must be proclaimed.
Conclusion
Are you going into all the world?
Are you preaching the gospel to every creature?
If not, why not?
No one is excluded from the grace of God.
We must practice every creature evangelism.
