Session One: Stronger ‘Leadership’

Stronger Leadership

In all of these sessions there are slides, there are handout notes, even filling in some blanks and of course there are group questions.
Most Importantly we desire that you allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you. Please write down anything that he says .

Q) What kept Israel out of the promised land?

6 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.” b 8 We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. 9 We should not test Christ, d as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. 10 And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel. 1 Corinthians 10:6-10

Barnabas saw value in those for whom he laid down his life.

The Buck stops here:
The Buck stops here:
- Dominion over entire earth but responsibility over garden.
Genesis 1:26–28 NIV
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Faithfulness in little - then big.
Adam passed the buck.
Unless you are willing to take responsibility for your words, thoughts, deeds - you will never be a man.
Acceptance of responsibility makes you a man. Acceptance of responsibility IS Leadership.
Genesis 4:6–7 NIV
Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
Sin promises to serve and please but it enslaves and dominates.
Cannot have authority without responsibility.
Strength is demonstrated in gentleness ( fruit of the spirit )
God is looking for 3 qualities in men - Decisiveness - Consistency and Strength.
Women are looking for 3 qualities in men - Decisiveness - Consistency and Strength.
3 qualities that men struggle with - Decisiveness - Consistency and Strength.
Inconsistencies in men are generally testimony to their immaturity.”
— Edwin Louis Cole
— QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION — What are some things about which you struggle to be decisive?
Genesis 16:15 NIV
So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne.
What can you do to find some clarity?
How are you spending the majority of your time and money?
Are there ways you can improve?
Write out how you spend time and money and see if you can make some changes—do you think this will allow you more clarity to make decisions?
Buck Stops Here!
Building an Indestructible marriage:
1. Set your personal calendar first, Ministry second - don’t make family second best.
2. Do not let your business or ministry become an idol or your mistress.
3. Have a honeymoon - wives wants a holiday with you not without.
4. Devotional life - personally vital. Private philosophy determines public performance.
5. Give your family love and value.
Watch over your word to perform it.
Trust is extended to the limit of truth and no more.
Word is your bond.
6. Set time for family council. Imitate you.
7. Never disagree in front of the kids.
Agreement is a place of power.
Disagree = powerlessness.
