Fear of the New

The Father's Will & the Father's Love

Often as children we have fears about many things, including new experiences we must have in order to grow into maturity.

Mothers as nurturing us in safety to help us grow, fathers as stretching, pulling or even an encouraging push to the edge.

Fathers can be there to hold up their children, climb with them, giving them a hand of leg up, running alongside them providing balance or swimming alongside them providing buoyancy.

Their help isn't intended to remove the danger entirely but to hedge against catastrophic hurt or failure.

When we learn our limits, we learn where our power ends and where power that is external to us begins.

There is NO dividing line between where we end and God beings.

When have God’s help as long as we want it.

Learning new things and gaining new experiences comes with growing pains.

Experiencing pain or failure is necessary for us to know the difference between what is true and what only appears to be true; between what has power and what only appears to be powerful.

When we are not challenged and push ourselves beyond our abilities, we tend to stay in a safe, nurturing environment, but it can hold us back spiritually and we stagnate for a lack of vital, lively faith.

Without either nurturing in safety or challenging us beyond of fears we can never fully mature. It is the same with the Spirit.

Fearless Faith requires nurturing and stretching.

Without being stretched or being asked the hard questions our spirits stagnate.

God wants us to live into the very image of God.

We live in a fallen world, with weakened flesh and divided will.

We must rely on God, our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer to find the strength to move beyond our selves and into a new form life.

Some of us have been shown poor examples of fatherhood, so, we need to allow God to redeem that image to understand him as Father as Jesus did.

Jesus appealed to the Father for his life.

But, Jesus submitted to the will of the Father, knowing of his goodness.

The Father has our best in mind, we must have faith that God knows better than we do. So, we must do the Father's will if we love God.

What can we do?

Consider whether you know God the Father as Abba Father.

So, we must do the Father's will if we love God.

Examine you heart, whether the Spirit tells your spirit that you are a child of God.

Speak with the Father each and every day as Jesus did, especially in times of trial, even when you cannot hear God.

Watch and Pray, privately and corporately, that you do not fall into temptation.

Consider whether your hurts, hangups of habits are holding you back from being led by the Holy Spirit.

Time is limited, know when enough is enough, make a decision, get up and go do it. (Remember the Great Commission!)

Jesus acknowledges the weakness of the flesh, but submitted to the Father through prayer, then fearlessly took action in God’s mission to restore us all.

Like the father who holds the seat of the bike for balance us, lifts us up to the branch of the tree, or holds us afloat as we are beginning to swim...

Our heavenly Father takes us beyond comforts but never leaves us to fall or drown when as we continue to call on him, our Abba Father.

Fearless Faith requires nurturing and stretching.
