1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Builders
Builders
Moses and Jesus Christ are our two builders given as examples in this portion of scripture.
Moses was faithful in all his house as a servant of the Lord. As we read throughout the old testament, this high praise could not be given to most of the patriarchs.
Abraham - decided to “help” God fulfill His promise and that ended in disaster. God does not need our help to fulfill what He has promised.
Isaac and Jacob had favorites and this caused dissension in the family.
The prophet Samuel was definitely anointed but his sons abused the office of priest and took advantage of the people. We see here, that just because someone has the anointing, does not mean they will faithful in their household.
Even when we come to King David, his family was out of control. His son rose up against him and caused a civil war.
But Moses was faithful in all his house as a servant of the Lord. Oh, I pray we can all say that.
Jesus Christ was faithful all the way to the cross. He has built His house.
2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Dads, what kind of house have you built or are building? The Apostle Paul wrote that every man builds a house. Are you familiar with the tools needed to build a house that will stand.
Matthew 7:24-27
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
So, we know we need the foundation of Jesus Christ. Anything else will crumble. But where do we go from here? We need our tools.
Tape Measure - we measure to see what amount is needed. We know what happens if we use a tape measure that is damaged or we do not measure correctly.
We then gather our wood. Our wood is what is attached to the foundation of Jesus Christ. That is our time spent in reading the Word of God and prayer.
Now these twigs look they would be good for building a house. They could hold up to the forces of life. Not hardly. See these twigs are just the leftovers. They are just a quick grab of maybe a verse or two. But there is no growth. And when the storms of life come, they just break.
Now this is the kind of wood we want. It will not bend or break. It will hold up when the rains come. See, the fibers are very close together. Dads, the closer you get to God the stronger your house will be.
Next is my favorite, the drill. Elizabeth said I am like Rambo with the drill. Thus I am not allowed to use it. This drill is the Holy Spirit. He gives us the power to build our house. We do not have to have the baptism in the Holy Spirit. It will not keep us out of heaven. We can continue going along with the hammer. It is slower. But who wants to build the house with a hammer, when you could have the power of the Holy Spirit.
Fruit of the Spirit -
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Now, you wonder, what does the fruit of the Spirit have to do with building your house. Everything. How many times has Mike been trying to build something and he needs a nail and all we can find are screws. Each one of these represent a fruit of the Spirit. There are days when you need different fruits of the Spirit to get through the day. You may have recieved some frustrating news, and what you need most is peace and self-control more than kindness or goodness at this point. It’s like you really need a 3 in long x ½ wide screw and all you can find is a mountain of 2 inch long x 1/4 inch screw. Now I know no man here would ever get upset and maybe a little mad if you could only find a 2 inch screw when you need a 3 inch screw. That would be somebody out there. But this is when we step back and say ”Lord, I am really frustrated right now. You know what is going on in my life. You know how I am trying. Please help me. Then the Holy Spirit shows us where the 3 inch screw is, self-control and peace.
Dads, you affect so many people. People you are not even aware of. They are watching how you build your house. Are you mirroring Christ in relationship with your spouse and your children?
I was at Dollar General one day. There was a man standing behind me with his two daughters. The girls were so excited because their dad was buying them a doll as a reward for doing their chores without complaining. And the youngest little girl was just beaming. She kept telling everyone who would listen to her that she had the best daddy in the world. He is so much fun.
We have a heavenly daddy that is the best in the whole wide world. He Is so much fun. He gives us some many great gifts. He gives us the desires of our heart because He loves us. He wants us to grow in a closer relationship with Him and then He will give us even greater gifts.
We know this is not easy being the kind of dad God wants you to be. You are going against the grain to build a house that glorifies God. Your children may be young or may they may be young. But you are still building that house. Maybe you are starting at the beginning. Maybe you are adding layers that make it even more beautiful and lasting. Maybe you need to do a remodel. Maybe even a complete gut job. Maybe you did not start with Jesus Christ as the foundation to your house. It is not too late. You can move out of the old house and move into a new one that is built with a strong foundation that will stand the test of times. Starting over is not easy, but sometimes it is the best thing to do.
We live in a day and time when there is not a lot of reaffirmation of you as the dad and head of our households. You have quite a responsibility and a privilege. tells us that Enoch did not walk with God until after he had children. Nothing like kids gets you on your face before God.
21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
Genesis 5:Allow the Lord to lead you.
Allow the Lord to lead you.
