Father’s day is a unique day and one we approach much differently then any other day...
When we celebrate other days - like Mother’s day, grandparents day - even Veteran’s Day, Memoria Day, or any other holiday
The point of is all is remember and honor the object...
Yet on Father’s Day we have writers like Pamala Paul write articles entitled “Are Father’s Necessary”.
Quotes:
Dads, we tell our husbands, are essential influences on children, the source of unique benefits.
There’s only one problem: none of this is proven.
Drawing on reliable comparative studies, you could say this: single moms tend to be more involved, set more rules, communicate better, and feel closer to their children than single dads.
They have less difficulty monitoring their children’s whereabouts, friendships, and school progress.
Their children do better on standardized tests and have higher grades, and teenagers of single moms are actually less likely to engage in delinquent behavior or substance abuse than those of single dads.
NOTE: the “reliable comparative studies” were not cited in this article.
They conclude, “based strictly on the published science, one could argue that two women parent better on average than a woman and a man, or at least than a woman and man with a traditional division of family labor.”
NOT AGAIN: the “published science” is not cited in this article.
Fathers, roughhouse all you want.
But we, gatekeeper moms, are in charge of the rest.
We could give you detailed instruction, and you still couldn’t possibly do it as well.
The bad news for Dad is that despite common perception, there’s nothing objectively essential about his contribution.
No wonder there are so many dead beat dad’s out there when society constantly tell us that we are not necessary and should have not real influence in their kids lives!
What troubles me even more then societies view on fatherhood is it can creep into the church as well!
We gush on Mother’s day about a mother’s love and how important she is in our lives!
AND RIGHTLY SO!
But we castigate dad’s for being dad!
Micro Message:
Text:
Choose the right woman
Adam was with her!
Why didn’t he stop her???
Man up men and be a MAN!
Conclusion: Men come to this alter and I’m going to lay hands on you and pray that God will turn your spine into an iron bar so you can stand for what is right!
The End
Why are we so comfortable with this message rather than the message that Holy men of God are what is necessary to lead our families to heaven!
We are dealing with a generation of men who society has brainwashed to the point they don’t even know what it is to be a man...
Much less the importance of it!
Why is there such an attack on Manhood today?
To destroy manhood you destroy the basic concept of God; who He is, what He is, and why He is.
First thing to understand about this passage is it is written to men - we know that from the personal pronoun: him.
And it sums up the need of men in society very well.
We have men who have no confidence - Who have produced children with no refuge.
Who have produced children with no refuge.
Our problem is we have been tricked into placing our confidence in the wisdom of this world rather than God!
Here are so commands the Bible gives men:
Determine the direction of your family
Joshua didn’t take a pole
Didn’t ask his wife
Didn’t call his BFF
He said as long as you are in my house there is one thing that WILL happen - You will serve God!
Teach your family
Get the right thing in your heart
Teach IT to you kids
When is the last time you sat around the kitchen table and spoke to your family about the things of God?
This is your destiny!
19 For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.”
Pastor, I don’t know how…
I didn’t have a good example.
That is why we have the church!
God set it up to that the spirit and the physical reflect each other - for our understanding.
We know God is our Father BUT we also have earthly men of God who becomes your spiritual father...
They they you
They correct you
They lead you
Just as physical father’s are instructed to do the same in the physical...
Conclusion:
Maybe you didn’t have the biological father you would have wished...
Maybe he was a good father but not a spiritual man...
Left you without the ability to know how to talk to you kids, grandkids
Every man in the place need to allow God to wash off of you the stigma of being a man that society has placed on you!
You need to connect to your spiritual father!
