He Is the Whole

1 Corinthians 1:10-31

V         We live in a world where Satan’s influence and purpose is to divide the church in any way possible.

12 For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 6:12

V         Paul warns against allowing earthly divisions into the Church.

10 Now, dear brothers and sisters, I appeal to you by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ to stop arguing among yourselves. Let there be real harmony so there won’t be divisions in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

1 Corinthians 1:10

V         When we allow “worldly wisdom” to influence our thoughts above the Scriptures, we will be divided.

20 So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made them all look foolish and has shown their wisdom to be useless nonsense.

1 Corinthians 1:20

V         Satan works at counterfeiting God’s wisdom to pull us away from being united around God’s desires.

22 God’s way seems foolish to the Jews because they want a sign from heaven to prove it is true. And it is foolish to the Greeks because they believe only what agrees with their own wisdom.
