Acts 18:24–28 (NKJV)
Ministry of Apollos
24 wNow a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being xfervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, ythough he knew only the baptism of John. 26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. 27 And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, zhe greatly helped those who had believed through grace; 28 for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, ashowing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.1
1 John 2:18–19 (NKJV)
Deceptions of the Last Hour
18 zLittle children, ait is the last hour; and as you have heard that bthe 4Antichrist is coming, ceven now many antichrists have come, by which we know dthat it is the last hour. 19 eThey went out from us, but they were not of us; for fif they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out gthat they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.2
Philippians 3:12–16 (NKJV)
Pressing Toward the Goal
12 Not that I have already tattained, 3or am already uperfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have 4apprehended; but one thing I do, vforgetting those things which are behind and wreaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 xI press toward the goal for the prize of ythe upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are zmature, ahave this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, bGod will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already 5attained, clet us walk dby the same 6rule, let us be of the same mind.3
Mark 9:33–41 (NKJV)
Attitude of Servanthood
Matt. 18:1–5; Luke 9:46–50
33 aThen He came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house He asked them, “What was it you 6disputed among yourselves on the road?” 34 But they kept silent, for on the road they had bdisputed among themselves who would be the cgreatest. 35 And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, d “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” 36 Then eHe took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, 37 “Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and fwhoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.”
38 gNow John answered Him, saying, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us.”
39 But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him, hfor no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. 40 For ihe who is not against 7us is on 8our side. 41 jFor whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.4
