Series: It’s Harvest Time! Where Are You in The Line?
It’s Time to Get Up! ;
INTRO: We’ve been introduced to the magnificent person in the personality of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (). We see that everything that we need it is in Jesus’ Hands. After all, if a king does not have the power to accomplish anything what good are his credentials or his principles? WATCH THIS NOW! ( “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, All Authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth”). WHAT ARE YOU SAYING PASTOR? The word “Authority” is translated “Power” it means {the right to use of power}. I HAVE TO SHOW YOU THE POWER! Question: What are you dealing with today that needs to be resolved? Answer: () There was authority in His healing, () there was authority to His teachings, () Jesus has authority even in forgiving our sins. () He even has all authority over Satan, and Jesus delegated that authority to His Apostles. PUT IT IN JESUS’ HANDS, HE’S GOT THE AUTHORITY! The Central Theme: Since Jesus Christ today has all authority, we may obey Him without fear. No matter where He leads us, no matter what circumstances we may be facing, He is in control.
TEXT: In Matthew Chapters 8 and 9, it records ten miracles. Question: Why did our Lord perform miracles? Answer: He wanted to meet human needs! Certainly, our Lord’s miracles were additional (credentials – warranting credit or confidence) to prove His claim as the Messiah of Israel. WHY DID HE HAVE TO PROVIDE PROOF? (I. Corth 1: 22 “The Jews require a sign”). 1. One answer is that we (they) were looking at the Gospel from a (philosophical – having a calm attitude toward disappointments or difficulties or unpleasant situation) point of view. 2. Human nature enjoys following human leaders. LET ME SHOW YOU! We tend to identify more with spiritual leaders who help us and whose ministry we understand, and we enjoy. I. We Have an Obligation to His Fellowship (Vs. 35) – Jesus was doing what they should have been doing! Along with His compassion and credentials; Jesus’ concern was to reveal saving truth to His people. It’s “Sermons in Actions!” When we walk in the ways that pleases Christ, we will get three things to help us alone the way. 1. We get an obedient will 2. We gain and humble heart 3. We’ll receive a godly walk WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THIS! Jesus Did Not Perform Miracles to “get a crowd.” He usually avoided the crowd. (re-read vs. 35) [] → (vs. 1-4) 1. Jesus Cleanses a Leper (vs. 5-13) 2. The centurion’s servant healed (vs. 14-17) 3. Peter’s mother-in-law healed WHY DID JESUS HAVE TO PERFORM THESE MIRCLES? 1. Yes, to meet human needs 2. Because of what Adam did in ( “When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate”). It was at that point sickness and sin entered the world! Sin and sickness do go together; WHAT? ( “Who pardons all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases”) Since sickness is a consequence of Adam’s sin and illustration of sin. LET ME HELP YOU! But God is not obligated to heal all sickness. He is obligated to save all sinners who calls on Him! ( “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”). II. We Have an Obligation to His Word (Vs. 36)“And seeing the multitude” Jesus can see what the world thinks is healthy! We are walking around looking all together, but the pain is only seen by the only one, that can do something about what the world can not see! (Illustration: Young girl at Park Plaza 80’s) When we don’t have God’s Word we are lost; God’s servants will be like sheep in the midst of wolves. We must have the Word of God to call out what’s in our way. ( “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge”). When you obey God’s Word, you walk in the light and don’t stumble, but when you reject the Word, you walk in the darkness and can’t find our way. It’s Time to Get Up! III. We Have an Obligation to Jesus (Vs. 37-38; Vs. 10: 16) – Not only did Jesus heal; He also taught and preached. I WANT TO CHALLENGE YOU TODAY! It’s an awesome gift to be able to do what Jesus dd! Jesus could not do the work alone – He needed others to help Him. It’s Time to Get Up! (read vs 10: 16) It does not refer to a person keeping himself 📷saved, but rather enduring persecution and being faithful. (“Behold” (idou) – suddenly, now; “I” (ego) – 📷in relationship; “Sending” (apostello) – begin to harvest, place the sickle)29 “But when the crop permits, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come”). [sickle – a short-handle farming tool with a semicircular blade, used for cutting grain, lopping, or trimming]. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Jesus is equipping us to go out and harvest the fields that He is sending us into! God will never send us anywhere that He has not already equipped and prepared you for! Question: Why did He say, “as sheep”? (sheep – have good hearing, with excellent peripheral vision; with visual fields of about 270⁰ to 320⁰, sheep can see behind themselves without turning their heads).18 “the belt of truth buckled around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness, your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. The shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit”). Question: Why is nothing mentioned about our back? Answer: Because, God’s Got Our Backs! 📷Jesus is sending us out in the “midst” (emmoso – among; surrounded by; in the company of) (“wise” – having the capacity to understand, often in the daily things of life, hence, shrewd, and wise in spiritual matters) (“serpents” – snake) (“innocent” – pure, formally, unmixed) (“doves” – a clean animal for sacrifice; saved from death) It’s Time To Get Up! It’s Harvest Time; Where Are You in The Line?
CONCLUSION: Before the disciples themselves were involved in the ministry of preaching, teaching, and healing, they needed instruction from the MASTER TEACHER HIMSELF. I Challenge You Today: STUDY YOUR BIBLE, PRAY, SO YOU WILL BE READY WHEN THE ENEMY COMES YOUR WAY, YOU’LL BE READY FOR THE FIGHT!
