Odds are, the answer is “NO”
Why? Because most, if not all of you, became US citizens from something that happened to you, not by you.
You were either born inside the United States OR
You were born to US citizens.
TRANSITION: This is how you and I become citizens of God’s Kingdom

God, in His mercy, MADE you a citizen of the Kingdom.
Now, as a part of His Kingdom, what does it mean to be a follower of Jesus?

Jesus had a specific reason for calling his disciples, and that was so that he could send them out.

If you look very closely at what the text says, it says very explicitly that Jesus chose the 12 to be with him AND to send them out to preach.
