God has given man freedom of choice. God doesn’t force anyone to follow His way. Our life now as well as in eternity depends on our acceptance or rejection of the gospel. No one can choose for us; every person is responsible to God for his own choices.

God’s wrath is revealed against ungodliness and unrighteousness. He demands holiness. Verses 18-19 tells us:

18 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness.

19They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them.
God is Reality. Man has seen nature, oceans, stars, mountains. This is evidence of God who created and controls it. He says in his heart, there is no God. “Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”

Then, just as today there is Rejection of God—21 “Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Their foolish minds became dark” Why do love darkness?

“And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.”

Isn’t our “wordly” reaction amazing? Verse 22-23 states: “Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.”23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.”

22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. Note: “Fools make a mock of sin”—.

God Denounced His people—24 “So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.” God gave them up because of their corruption. Our sin separates us from God.

They worshiped the creature more than the Creator. God forbids idol worship. 25 “They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.”

Degradation towards God. Homosexuality is not a sickness—it is sin! God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of this sin. 26 “That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other.”

27 “And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. which was written almost 600 years before Jesus birth told us, “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.

Our Sinfulness against God— v. 28–32
Our Sinfulness against God— v. 28–32
God’s great Sorrow for His peoples choices. —v. 28. God gave up these people who rebelled against Him. 28 “Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.” If we believe, we are saved; if we do not believe, we are lost.

Are we sinners today like the sinners in Paul’s day? 29 “Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy."

31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy.
The people felt NO shame. They enjoyed sinning and getting others to sin. 32 “They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.”

What a shame! Knowing what is right, but rejecting it; rejecting also an opportunity to have our sins forgiven, to have everlasting life. Satan hardens man’s heart. “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”
