What is prayer?

PRAYER Communication with God, primarily offered in the second-person voice (addressing God directly). May include petition, entreaty, supplication, thanksgiving, praise, hymns, and lament

PRAYER—is converse with God; the intercourse of the soul with God

says “evening, and morning, and at noon will i pray”. So prayer is not a certain time or communication of needs alone. For example prayer is not just to prepare you for your day ,when you lay down at night, or when your bills are due. Not only for giving thanks. Prayer is a daily ,all day communion with God.( )

Approaching God to Pray

If prayer is communion or communication with God. How do we know He hears us? This is one of the questions we will answer in this series of teaching.
reads
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”.We will use this as a basis of teaching on prayer.
We will use this as a basis of teaching on prayer. Let us start with “ask”. Before you can ask someone something you must not only know , what you want to asking, who you are asking, and if the one you are asking can answer but also how to approach the one you are asking. This is why the apostles and ourselves must be taught to pray(Luke 11:1).
Let us start with “ask, and it shall be given you ”. Sounds simple enough. Then why are so many of our prayers not being answered?
Before you can ask someone something you must not only know , what you want to ask, who you are asking, and if the one you are asking can answer but also how to approach the one you are asking. This is why the apostles and ourselves must be taught to pray(). Jesus teaching on prayer begins with “our Father”(). Through bible study we know from the deaths of the people in the old testament, you can’t just approach God anyway you want. There is an order.
First He must be your father. The only prayer we can pray is repentance if He is not(). God is spirit () you cant approach a spiritual matter in the flesh. () If God is your father you have a covering Jesus Christ. then you must use your covering every time you pray. I can only approach my prayer life in Jesus Name( ) .
Yes I am a child of God. Then you can’t have sin in your life when you approach God in prayer() . Don’t get in bad prayer habits of praying because it is time and not repenting of anything that could get in the way.
I am forgiven and ready to pray. Because someone is not in sin does not mean there are no failures or daily battles. Most often we will get right with God but not our brethern . This is unacceptable in Gods House of Prayer(). We have to know before we can pray effectively there is a process to the approach of prayer. “Confess faults one to another, and pray one for another” or as translated in some versions. Acknowledge, agree, or know each other has sins (James5:16). This will cause an effectual prayer life. If others know we are all in need of prayer and we pray for each other. Then as a unified house of prayer we can approach God.

What Can I Ask

We should not expect answered prayers when we pray for something outside the will of God. As Jesus said “not as I will” () we also must pray inside the will of God for our life.
We can should not ask for anything. Things we pray for must be in the name of Jesus, will of God, and purpose of God. Now the focus is not just prayer or need, but also fellowship in the will of God.
