>>>This week is about rest, celebration, slowing, silence, amongst other things... of that nature<<<
Jesus has accomplished all for us… WE BELIEVE THAT!
But we are not in heaven yet, and we labor to make the world as it is in heaven… and we WORK HARD TOWARDS THAT END!
This week we pause to slow down, be more quiet, rest, and celebrate God’s abundant grace! WE CELEBRATE GOD’S GRACE TO REST!
Let’s look at (4) verses:
REST:
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.
So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.
CELEBRATION:
Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.
SLOWING:
And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.
English Standard Version Chapter 6
31 And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and kthey had no leisure even to eat.
SILENCE:
When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
I’ve given each of you a short article that really summarizes what we’re aimed at this week: TRUSTING, STOPPING, and ENJOYING.
Trusting
trusting that God is on his throne
God is holding all things
And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
we affirm this, we believe this
No matter what is gnawing at our heart… we are striving to trust in God’s sovereign reign!
Stopping
In our stopping, we’re practicing faith… We’re practicing the reality that, “we are completely dependent on God’s grace for our life, our family, and our ministry.”
Our intentional stopping is in a posture of, “God, all of this is yours & I am reminded of that and I rejoice in that… I BRING IT ALL TO YOU!”
“I am bringing you all that I’ve been gripping so tightly and the anxiety that accompanies it.”
Enjoying
God calls us to rest by enjoying him and so that we might, “taste and see that the Lord is good.” ()
Dan Allender says Sabbath is, “not a day off, but a day of celebration and delight.”
We rejoice and enjoy God’s goodness and celebrate what he has done in us and the gifts he’s bestowed on us.
This week:
TRUST
STOP
ENJOY
PRAYER:
Let’s hold out our hands in a posture of surrendering:
“Lord, take my fear, shame, guilt, my worry, my anxiety, my pride, my selfishness...”
Let’s just hold out our hands in a posture of receiving:
Let’s just hold out our hands in a posture of receiving
“Lord fill me with faith in you, in the joy of my salvation, in the hope of your second coming...”
We are yours and you have us and you’re holding us!
We are yours and you have us and you’re holding us!
