The Exodus is the defining act of salvation in the Old Testament, all of it pointing forward to Jesus. This week we look at the Passover and death of the firstborn. Jesus is the final Passover Lamb. Jesus takes God’s wrath for our sin. He takes away our sin. And Jesus leads us to freedom.

For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. and leads us to FREEDOM. Follow him! Jude 5 Galatians 5:1 Romans 8:2 HOMEWORK What is this? – Each week people from Wawasee Bible meet in small groups in various homes to learn about Jesus, pray, eat, laugh, and live life together. We call them 1:10 Community Groups (the “1:10” comes from Colossians 1:10). The questions here are based on the sermon each week (often a parallel passage of Scripture),and guide each group’s study. If you’re interested in connecting with a 1:10 Group, let us know on the Connect Card in your bulletin. Getting Started 1. Getting to Know You: Think back on your life. What are some of the primary “hinge moments” in your life, that ultimately changed/affected everything else going forward? They might be good things or hard times. Marriage, death, job change, salvation, transitions, moving, etc. are all examples. What are some in your life? 2. Read Exodus 12:1-51. Review your message notes. What stood out to you from the message this week? Do you have questions? Disagreements? Discuss it with your group. Digging Deeper 3. Jesus’ sacrifice was necessary as payment for our sins and paved the way for our relationship with God. While we are no longer called to sacrifice in the same way today, there are still sacrifices we can make for God. As you read through the verses below, which one poses the biggest challenge for you in being “sacrificial” today? 1 John 3:16-18 Romans 12:1 Ephesians 5:1-2 Hebrews 13:15 4. Review the passages above. Can you think of any changes that would come into your life if you were to put these verses into practice? 5. As we heard this weekend, the leaven or yeast represents leaving behind anything that would keep us from fully obeying God. While times have changed, the same principle is true in that even seemingly small sins can keep us from moving forward in our relationship with God. How could the following verses help someone who’s tempted to justify what they may feel is a “small” sin? James 4:17 Proverbs 28:13 1 John 1:7-9 6. For most of us, the idea of being blessed by God is awesome. However, God’s blessings don’t always align with what we’d like his blessing to be for our life. What types of blessings do you think most people would want from God? How do these align with the blessings shown in Ephesians 1:1-14? 7. What blessings do you think the Israelites wanted from God when they were in Egypt? What blessings did they receive that might have been counter to what they desired? 8. On their way out of Egypt, we’re told that many other people went with them (Exodus 12:38), that the Israelites brought with them to freedom. Who are you bringing with you? What example does Ephesians 1:15-23 give as to how we can pray for others to be blessed and free? And there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where someone was not dead. 31 Then he summoned Moses and Aaron by night and said, “Up, go out from among my people, both you and the people of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as you have said. 32 Take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone, and bless me also!”
