38 Want ek is versekerd dat geen dood of lewe of engele of owerhede of magte of teenwoordige of toekomende dinge
39 of hoogte of diepte of enige ander skepsel ons sal kan skei van die liefde van God wat daar in Christus Jesus, onse Here, is nie.
(The Message)
38 I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow,
39 high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.
ILLUS. - “You,” said the doctor to his patient, “are in terrible shape, & unless something is quickly done you’re going to die. You’re under too much stress and you’re not eating right. Tell your wife that she must start cooking more nutritious meals. And to help reduce the stress, have her keep the kids off your back so you can relax. Then make a budget and tell her she has to stick to it. If she’ll do all this, you should recover completely. Otherwise, you’ll be dead in a month.” Obviously shaken, the patient said, “Doc, would you calling my wife before I get home & give her those instructions?” When he got home, his wife rushed to him. “I just talked to the doctor,” she wailed. “Honey, he said you only have 30 days to live.”
James Dobson, in his book, “Dare To Discipline,” suggests 3 specific things for a father to keep in mind
1. The earliest years = (time with mom). Years bring change, & father often becomes the example in attitude & action that a child follows. (God, church, spiritual things) “Fathers are followed,” & this is not something that we can just turn over to mother to handle. 2. The 2nd thing he suggests is that the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. Paul tells the Ephesian husbands (& us) to love their wives “…just as Christ loved the church & gave Himself up for her.” () 3. Thirdly, a Christian father will arrange to spend time with his children. James Dobson goes on to say that “Good fathers are made, not born.” But to be a good father you need a model, an example of a father that you can pattern yourself after. Where do you find such a father? Where do you look? Is there such a thing as a perfect father? Ray’s saying…. “Practice doesn’t make perfect…perfect practice makes perfect.”
1. GOD HET SY KINDERS LIEF.
(Afrikaanse Ou Vertaling)
(Afrikaanse Ou Vertaling)
9 Het Ek jou nie beveel nie: Wees sterk en vol moed, wees nie bevrees of verskrik nie; want die Here jou God is met jou, oral waar jy heengaan?
(Afrikaanse Ou Vertaling)
29 Laat daar geen vuil woord uit julle mond uitgaan nie, maar net ’n woord wat goed is vir die nodige stigting, sodat dit genade kan gee aan die wat dit hoor.
(sapros) bad or unwholesome to the extent of being harmful, bad, evil, unwholesome[1]
(WUESTNT) .................Every word that is rotten and unfit for use, out of your mouth let it not be proceeding, but whatever is good, suitable for edification with respect to the need, in order that it may impart grace to the hearers. And stop grieving the Spirit, the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed with a view to the day of redemption.
3. GOD DISSIPLINEER SY KINDERS
(WUESTNT)
9 Furthermore, we have been having indeed fathers of our flesh as those who disciplined, corrected, and guided us, and we have been in the habit of giving them reverence. Shall we not much rather put ourselves in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For on the one hand, they disciplined, corrected, and guided us for a few days upon the basis of that which seemed good to them, but He disciplines, corrects, and guides us for our profit, to the end that we might partake of His holiness. In fact, all discipline, correction, and guidance for the time being does not seem to be joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields a return of the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised by it.
AFSLUIT
