The Passion Translation (TPT)
God, your wrap-around presence is our defense.
In your kindness look upon the faces of your anointed ones.
For just one day of intimacy with you is like
a thousand days of joy rolled into one!
I’d rather stand at the threshold in front of the Gate Beautiful,
ready to go in and worship my God,
than to live my life without you
in the most beautiful palace of the wicked.
For the Lord God is brighter than the brilliance of a sunrise!
Wrapping himself around me like a shield,
he is so generous with his gifts of grace and glory.
Those who walk along his paths with integrity
will never lack one thing they need, for he provides it all!
The Father wraps himself around me.
He is my beginning, He is my now, He is my forever.
“IF you’ve seen me you’ve seen the Father”
Should be our statement to live by.
Jesus came to show us how we could live on this earth the way the Father would.
Jesus always points to the Father. WHY?
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Don’t let your heart be troubled
There’s a reward coming
Jesus gave us the map for life that leads to the Father.
Way Truth Life
These 3 are only gained by coming along side the Father
only gained by coming along side the FatherKnowing Him and seeing Him is the key that unlocks WAY, TRUTH, LIFE.
Knowing Him and seeing Him is the key that unlocks WAY, TRUTH, LIFE.
1. JESUS WANTS TO GET YOU TO THE FATHER.
WHAT IS JESUS ACTUALLY SAYING? WORD BREAKDOWN:
WAY
TRUTH
LIFE
Way- thinking, feeling, deciding, direction.
Truth- purpose and reality
Life- the state of one who is possessed of vitality or is animate, the absolute fulness of life, both essential and ethical.
Life- the state of one who is possessed of vitality or is animate, the absolute fulness of life, both essential and ethical.
2. THE FATHER IS: DIRECTION, PURPOSE, and FULFILLMENT
VS6 ‘No one comes to the Father except through me…”
As humans we ask three main questions at any given stage of our life.
Where am I going in life and how can I be happy?
What is my purpose in life?
How can I really LIVE my life? (FULFILLMENT)
A. Jesus answers us, by saying “THE FATHER IS WHAT YOU REALLY NEED”
1. “No one COMES TO…”
NO ONE COMES ALONG SIDE THE FATHER.
NO ONE CAN ALIGN THEMSELF WITH THE FATHER.
2. “Except through me…"
Jesus REPAIRS the broken connection.
“Except through me…"
“Except through me…"
Jesus’ work on the cross and relationship with us unlocks the path to the Father,
Jesus came and restored the connection for FATHER, SONS and DAUGHTERS to be aligned again.
and restored the connection for FATHER, SONS and DAUGHTERS to be aligned again.
HIS BLOOD IS THE KEY THAT UNLOCKS ETERNITY FOR YOU.
NOW WE CAN ALIGN OURSELF WITH HIM
NOW WE CAN COME ALONG SIDE HIM.
NOW WE CAN KNOW HIM
NOW WE CAN SEE HIM
JESUS PAID FOR IT ALL
3. YOU CAN EITHER HAD OR HAVE.
Vs 7 “If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
“I wish I would have….”
Is not the statement you want to say when you get to the end of your life, the end of your
month the end of your week or even at the end of the day.
When It comes to navigating this life, knowing the Father is the answer to every part of it.
FROM NOW ON-
Know Him- Personally, intimately.
Time spent
Investment made
Sacrifices
Surrender
See Him- For others, in others, and in the earth.
We are charged with looking at everything with the Father in mind.
How he would do it.
How he would love.
Looking at people the way the Father see’s them
YOU HAVE TO KNOW BEFORE YOU CAN SEE.
SEEING IS NOT BELIEVING
KNOWING IS SEEING.
JESUS said
FROM NOW ON YOU WILL KNOW HIM AND SEE HIM.
WITHOUT KNOWING HIM—
I CANNOT SEE- Jealous, suspicious, judgmental,
I CANNOT ESTABLISH KINGDOM- sick people, those in need.
I CANNOT LOVE…
OTHERS- Jealous, suspicious, judgmental,
MYSELF- depression, self absorbed, easily offended.
WITH KNOWING HIM
I CAN SEE-
PEOPLE- True identity, purpose, The Fathers heart for them and their life.
I CAN ESTABLISH-
HIS KINGDOM on earth- Sickness’ healed, hearts mended, deliverances, meeting needs.
I CAN LOVE-
OTHERS- Champion them as the Father would
- taking care of needs
MYSELF- I see myself the way the Father does, therefore I’m not afraid, I’m full of joy,
I’m confident in WHO HE SAYS I AM..
LOVING YOURSELF- EVERYTHING to do with WHO the FATHER says YOU ARE,
AND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what you THINK you are owed.
Entitlement vs. Sonship
Entitlement vs. Sonship
Entitlement says “I deserve love and respect because I deserve it, or owed”
Sonship says “I am loved because of WHO I am in the Father”
We sometimes fight really hard to gain something that doesn’t come from effort.
It is forged in identity.
We cannot have it apart from the Father
We cannot have the Father without Jesus
Lot’s of people are saved orphans
They have Jesus.... Forgivness
Forgivness
But not as many make it to sonship because they’re still trying to earn love.
Today we have the opportunity to lay down the orphan heart
